My experience is yes. I once went on holiday to Jamaica, it was a part of a wedding party and I was single at the time. The hotel had a lot of American guests, and let’s just say, picking up ladies was like catching fish in a barrel. I was in my element, happy memories.

It depends where you go, when I was in Texas and New Orleans my accent got a bit of attention as it was a novelty (although far too many Texans thought it sounded Australian!)

In Boston, not so much. I suppose it depends on how many British tourists/expats in each area/city?

Definitely some regional variation, but in Los Angeles/San Fran the accent proved irresistible. New York it had some effect, but I did get the sense there was less of a fetish for the accent.

MANY moons ago I went to Florida and New york for a period of time.

I'm American by birth, but raised in the UK.

I was only 16 at the time, played rugby, looked ALMOST as sexy as I do now! and I CLEANED up in Florida. not so much in NY.. they seemed a little more wise to the 'cockney charm'

It was a fun few months.

I think different accents can be a turn on. Being a Yank over here has opened a few doors for me.

I once met a British Friend at Caliente in Florida. She was a mid 30's English blonde with a sexy English accent. At a 'party' and few hotel meets that we attended, everyone wanted her to speak. Lets just say she was very popular with both sexes. Her accent was a great icebreaker..

I'm very fond of the Geordie as typified by the 1960s rock group 'The Animals'. To this day their lead singer Eric Burdon reveals his upbringing in Newcastle despite years living in the USA. I wonder what the Yanks think of RP, received pronouciation which can still be detected in the way David Attenborough and the Queen speak. I think it's ridiculously archaic and not a sign of class but unfair entitlement which we in the UK are still burdened with.

I've been to USA a fair few times. The American ladies love an English accent. Shame I was with the kids and my ex wife as I could have been a very naughty lad a few times. They used to flirt really bad with me and didn't seem to care that I was with my wife and children.

Having been born just across the water from Sean Connery in Fife, and able to order a vodka martini on the rocks, shaken not stirred, in the same tone of voice always goes down well in the company of Americans. Then throw in the the fact that it was actually St Andrews, the home of golf where I was born, and I get very well treated by every lovely American I've ever met.

The Liverpool (scouse) accent still has a very out dated stigma attached to it thanks to Harry Enfield in this country.

But in the USA they love it. Especially in New York, Nashville and the deep south. The women over there love our accents. X

Depends where you are.

More than 10 years ago, those in places like LA would adore it and ask you about it etc... I find that less common however. In smaller places or major cities that don’t receive many tourists, then possibly.

Some Americans however just can not absorb accents and may just ignore it.

I have found Brits speaking to other Brits cannot hear the British accent or they won’t care and start telling you they’re from the UK too etc..

Yes, but why? When I taught English as a Foreign Language, my students were far more interested in the USA and its cultureb than the UK. We could do with adopting some of the American English spellings,and 'fall' is much more descriptive than 'autumn'. By the way, I have a soft spot for redhead ladies.

Do all American ladies think all British men sound like Rodger Moore? I remember being in Las Vegas strip joint acting as interpreter for my brother who was talking to a stripper.

The poor lady couldn't understand him, although my brother did sound like Oz from Auf Wiedersehen Pet.

100% agree it depends location. Big cities either have heard alot of English accents or residents have been to UK.

Get into remote areas and they love it. I used to spend time in Nervarda with the military and the locals there loved a English accent

In California yes they do! I spent about 6 weeks out there and heard "oh my gaaawd I looove your accent!" so many times.

I didn't visit anywhere else in the US though so can't say if that's the same in other areas.
