"My experience is yes. I once went on holiday to Jamaica, it was a part of a wedding party and I was single at the time. The hotel had a lot of American guests, and let’s just say, picking up ladies was like catching fish in a barrel. I was in my element, happy memories. Dan" I think that might have been more to do with your cock than your accent... Could be wrong had lots ask about the Beatles when they heard me speak... Or should that be Speke after all that's JOHN Lennon now

"For me, English accents don’t do much— except for maybe a Geordie one. Scottish ones get me. You do realise that Scottish accents have significant variations too and some of them really aren't pleasant at all?" You do realize that's why I attached an 's' to "accent" to make "accents"? As in acknowledging there's several, as in more than one, Scottish accent(s)? Weird, thought you'd catch that. Also, I'll be the judge of which ones are pleasant or unpleasant. Thank you very much. That's all subjective. Different strokes for different folks.

"I'm very fond of the Geordie as typified by the 1960s rock group 'The Animals'. To this day their lead singer Eric Burdon reveals his upbringing in Newcastle despite years living in the USA. I wonder what the Yanks think of RP, received pronouciation which can still be detected in the way David Attenborough and the Queen speak. I think it's ridiculously archaic and not a sign of class but unfair entitlement which we in the UK are still burdened with. "

"It depends where you go, when I was in Texas and New Orleans my accent got a bit of attention as it was a novelty (although far too many Texans thought it sounded Australian!) In Boston, not so much. I suppose it depends on how many British tourists/expats in each area/city?" 100% agree it depends location. Big cities either have heard alot of English accents or residents have been to UK. Get into remote areas and they love it. I used to spend time in Nervarda with the military and the locals there loved a English accent

"Yes, we believe that in our dreams. I thought Italian men were better lovers. Think of Casanova. I think we are too reserved for the Yanks. One American lady I knew thought British men were anally retentive while she described herself as orally fixated. " The whole 'latin lover' theory is due to the catholic church. If you want to succeed with a girl who is saving herself for marriage, you have to try really hard. If you are in a more liberal society, where sex is not so hard to get, you don't have to try so hard. Then imagine those two different cultures colliding in post war Europe, with cheap package holidays...

"There is no such thing as a British accent. We have dozens of different accents, so we can be different just 30 miles apart. " Depends on who is listening.... I have been told several times in the US that I sound like Adele despite having a Cheshire accent with a Manchester twang. I also get told I sound Australian, asked if I'm Scottish and if I know the queen. To a lot of Americans we are just British..... Same as to a lot of British they are just Americans despite their accent differences too!

"There is no such thing as a British accent. We have dozens of different accents, so we can be different just 30 miles apart. Depends on who is listening.... " Definitely Adele As long as you are talking about Adele Tomlinson from Oldham

"When i was in texas 3 years ago i had a different women each night due to my british accent" A second vote for Texas…..I got a date out of just going to Sam’s and trying some strawberry jam. I initially said “No, thank you….I’m fine” to the young lady doing the promotion; her face lit up with a huge grin and I got the “Oh my God, you’re English!”. I ended up trying the sample, chatted with her for a couple of minutes, walked of with her number and went out a couple of nights later.

"Three cheers for Mancunians. Could we tell the difference between an American and a Canadian, or between an Australian and a New Zealander speaking English? I'd struggle. " The Canadian would be at great pains to tell you he wasn’t an American lol And if he was one of those French Canadians he’d sound like the policeman out of allo allo lol
