Have you tried some of the sites in North Wales.

Old quarries.

I used to dive till I have it up and sold my gear.

Still kept my mask, snorkel and tank, my lad has the flippers for swimming training.

Oh best place I ever dived, don't laugh, Angelsey, lots of shipwrecks there, great place but cold, so lots of peeing in you suit required x

I know the different ways to "plumb-up" as it were lol.

I just prefer not to, and i don't do really long dives to need it.

Why don't you join your local BSAC branch. Its not an issue if you are Padi trained. Plenty in my branch including me started that way. Its cheaper diving, you can upgrade your skills cheaper or for free and meet new mates. just google bsac for your nearest branch. Hope you can get sorted.

Both hubby and I dive too, warm water and UK in dry suits. I am currently completing divemaster. We mainly dive inland in the UK, Stoney Cove, Capernwray and Eccleston Delph. I much prefer warm water ocean diving tho.
