It depends what area you want to stay in, the better hotels are usually the easiest as the Travelodge/Premier Inn type usually have keycard entry and on a night the staff will usually ask to see your key to let you in.

My favourite hotels are the Village Hotel chain (there is one in Headingley and one in Morley), we don’t even speak to staff to check in we do it on the app and the key is via Bluetooth on the app they’re so busy with the pub, restaurant, gym and function rooms that they haven’t a clue who is coming and going.

The plaza by the train station - just walk in and use the lifts with no key card. The same goes for Jury’s Inn and The Marriot... they’re the best for walking in and out unchallenged (can you tell I’ve been invited into a lot of people’s rooms? Ha)

Durham & London

The Hilton or either of the Crown Plaza are great plus you can get at room at the plaza for the same price as the Travelodge.
