It's quite commonly used as a compliment in various areas.

What do people mean by North? I define anyone south of Darlington as a cockney , much like londoners refer to north starting at the watford gap, manchester /liverpool/leeds all refer to themselves as northerers yet are hardly halfway up the UK ?

"I've only ever known weapon as an insult. What do you think it means?"

In Ireland, especially Dublin, if you say" She's a weapon" your kind of saying she's a bit of C, U, Next Tuesday

It's always been used up in these parts as a negative term

I'm from Lancashire. I've lived in Scotland, Yorkshire, east and west Mids and South East. Never heard it used as a compliment.....seems an odd word to do so.

Weapon is well known slang around Manchester and is a alternative offensive remark along the same lines as "dickhead"-arsehole- "knobhead" Muppet etc

Leave the lad alone there are other areas in the UK that use different dialect, he explained what it means where he is from on the 3rd message on this thread...seems everyone is trying to hijack this thread and turn it into something negative.

He started a thread asking why the woman up North are hot, whatever slang he uses it's his choice.

Or am I wrong? Should we all Express negative opinions on this site? Thought this site was about acceptance and freedom of expression?

Urban dictionary.

Depends on how the word is used in context to the conversation.

Drinker 1 : 'I asked for a carling in a fosters glass. Not a carling in a carling glass' Pause and look of shame given across the table.. 'You Weapon'

Drinker 2 : 'Sorry mate'

Drinker 1 : 'Weapon'

Take note the word weapon was used for a second time, this is a kick in the balls to whoever the word weapon is aimed at.

However on the flipside

Drinker 1 : 'Did you see Rooneys goal!!'

Drinker 2 : 'Hes a weapon'

Drinker 1 : 'Is that Patrice Evra, hes a weapon'

In east London we always used the term "weapon" for anything exceptional -- a bit like calling something "the dog's bollocks".

Only really heard it applied to cars or homes or tech though, never to women!

For example, "That car is a fuckin' weapon mate!".

Whatever weapon means to us all, I think we get the sentiment of the OP - that Northern girls are the best and are just absolutely fantastic in every way. Not in the least bit biased here

Can mean one of three things where I'm from. Can usually tell by the tone of voice on how you're directing it. I've used the term "weapon" for a sexy looking female, a total nugget and as a tool to attack someone!

The Boy here,

I call one of my Bicycles ‘The Weapon’ as it’s an aggressive time trial bike.

I wouldn’t call a girl a weapon!

Behind the bike shed!

Kitty here.. I’ve never heard it to mean anything especially bad, but then they don’t get much more southern.. on the other hand, I don’t think it’s something I want to be called!

I assume it means something like powerful and fierce and hot!
