yea the lighthouse in north quarter close to the village is a good hotel and central too

you will have a brilliant time in manchester even if you had to sleep in a cardboard box

Mancunians are some of the best england has to offer i have been there loadsa loadsa times on my own and always ended up with a group and never a cross word spoken

you might try looking at The Atrium, The Doubletree Hilton or the Britannia all of which are close to the Village (walking distance) as are both of the Ibis hotels but they do fill up weeks ahead

york/leeds/wakefield

'stay inn' thats the name of the hotel, blackfriers road, its 20 mins walk through town to the village but a good back up hotel if others are full or too expensive..
