Hi. Looking at nudist beaches to visit this year and there are a few old posts describing a demise of parking at Shellness beach.

Does anybody have a recent update?

Car parking has decreased; however, if you are happy to walk a short distance, there is ample parking available at the start of the track

How far is a short distance?

Measurement of long and short can be open to interpretation on this site!

When I last went there, decades ago, there was only limited parking at the beach end of a long narrow road.

Has a new parking area been created somewhere along that road?

The parking at the end of the track is still available, but much of the parking that used to be accessible along the track has now been blocked off with logs, trenches, or concrete blocks.

You’re right — perception does differ when it comes to length and distance 😊 I’d probably quantify my statement as around half a mile, or less than a 10-minute walk along the coast. 😊

Went to Shellness tonight and not ure if they have made changes to the parking at the end; I got there in the evening and they now have barriers padlocked together, with a note saying the car park is opened at 8am (I think) and closes at 6pm. 2 cars were locked in behind the barrier and, when I went late evening on Monday it was open past midnight, so think its only been implemented the past few days?

It’s the car park for the cafe, they close it or say they will close it early evening…

In regard to the walk to the beach, it’s genuinely a 10/15 walk at most. Single track that runs along the edge of the beach.

There’s parking for 4/5 cars further up but often busy.
