Hi all, I've just been asked by a couple to get them pregnant. Apparently he cant father a child due to medical reasons but they want a kid. I'm not against the idea. They want to conceive naturally. Has anyone had any experience of this..

in theory it sounds ok but i would check as the biological father can they make you pay child maintenance ?? till the child is 18yo i would seek legal advice first,,,

Go for it if he is married since legally the child will be theirs. Unless the court decides that its in the child's benefit for you to be involved. But if hes married with a stable job then he will be seen as the best choice for the child.

I agree with Mike it sounds a lovely thing to help a couple out like this you need to ask yourself a few questions are they able to give this child a warm loving home and not relay on others to support them in that upbringing also one side which hasn’t been heard is what about your thoughts when you see this child you might start getting feelings yourself and as Mike said what happens if the marriage breaks up and he disappears not paying a thing your responsibility now be careful

I think you need to be careful as there could be an ongoing cost to you, however if you trust them fully and it helps then I think it's a good thing.

IVF costs between 3k and 5k per time, and there is no guarantee for exactly the same result, if either the egg or sperm is a donation. You are acting as a donar. I find it very odd that people seem to see an issue about doing this for a couple.

The only issue is the risk to you

100% it's a couple I have met with several times over the last year or so. Both fun and socially. They seem really nice, comfortable and I really nice home. So my feeling is they will make great parents. But you are right about how I might feel if I ever bump into them. It's a dilemma

They have tried if. It didn't work but they found the whole process very clinical and not a nice experience. They want to get pregnant naturally. She's fertile but his sperm count is very low. I get on with them both, theres trust there.

Personally, I would never want to father a child that I would not have anything to do with.

As stated already, if you did father a child, what's to stop them from claiming financial support, which under the law you would have to pay. Also, what would happen if the couple separated, would you be happy with the woman turning up at your doorstep with your child.

You just don't know what will happen in the future, and it could cause you a whole heap of problems.

What happened a few years down the line when the divorce, the guy refuses to pay support and gets a DNA test to prove it's not his, and the DHS come after you to support the kid?
