Northumberland

Hey everyone, new to this but looking for some cold water therapy. Can be costal, lakes or rivers.

Wondered if there is any popular places and are great for beginners

Love the ocean but appreciate it’s a little choppy in February lol.

I’m in the north east so ideally between Newcastle or York as I travel between those on a regular basis.

Please don’t confuse this with me wanting a meet as I don’t play lol.

I don't swim there personally but I have seen a lot of swimmers there between the 2 piers down roker beach in Sunderland.

It don't get choppy either with it been between the piers.

Always keen for a cold dip Probably easiest on a weekend morning, but flexible work can mean weekday daytimes are possible too.

Try Cullercoats

Small calm bay.

Tynemouth Longsands is popular too.

Near to Crusoes cafe (gets you warmed up after)

Beware of the rip tide at the extreme south end date of the beach (directly opposite Crusoes.)

The slope at Seaham is good, shallow and you can’t walk fair out, good coffee shops too for afterwards, it’s in between the pier and harbour wall so hardly any currents etc.

We went there last year.. R loved it, A ... not a big fan of wild swimming but even I got in, water was nice..

It does get pretty busy on a good day but the site is huge..
