We have been going to Studland Naturist beach for years/decades. Here are some facts. If you turn up just anytime, especially near Aug Bank Holiday you will not get there. The practical means of access, despite it being a public beach requires logistical planning. There are no 'accepted' lay byes or casual camping spaces within many miles. Also all the parking locations (and there are 4) if the weather is kind will be occupied by 10.00am. They are, from S to N, NT Knoll Beach, Ferry Road at Firebreak 6, Shell bay, and Sandbanks (requires ferry). We are NTmembers and use the Knoll Beach car park because it is free for us. Remember it closes at 8.00pm. From memory, non members parking is £8+ per day. Remember also the roads leading to the parking have serious bottlenecks (There are only 3 access routes). The ferry from Sandbanks can be overwhelmed, the B3351 at Corfe can be a major problem, and access from Swanage can be difficult. Go early, leave late!. It is a considerable walk to the naturist beach from any direction, and the underlying etiquette is conplex. If you just want to sunbathe and swim naked stay on the beach and enjoy...remembering of course that the SW Coastal Path runs along the beach tideline, so be prepared for all sorts from boy scouts to horse riders and family groups. Many take beach shelters for wind and sun protection. However if you wish to go up onto the dunes for a better view and maybe some refreshing breeze you may be subject to the casual walk-by attention of blokes. The ongoing events are under your control. If you venture further into the dunes you will attract a following. You need to decide what you want out of that situation, and we on many occasions have just returned to the beach. Generally groups of gay, bi men populate the north central area, and couples stay around the coastal dunes. But be friendly, say Hi! and just enjoy the weather and naked freedom. Enjoy! |
