Well We got there at 10 having put our names on the list and confirmed 2 weeks ago (profile muttandjeff) only to be told we could not be let in as it was full. As an experienced party host a list and confirmations means that all is organised and numbers accounted for. This was a debarcle that was totally unacceptable. We spoke to people who had travelled a great distance to attend and had not been allowed in. If you are organising an event do it right or not at all.

Exactly the same thing happened to us... Not impressed at all... Total fuck up of a Saturday night, having been on the list for so long... We only get one Saturday night each month to go out (due to babysitters) and tonight was a waste of time and effort...

I did tell everyone that came later to have a drink in the bar downstairs and come back up when some of the people that came early had gone, this sort of thing will happen becuase every social has a large drop out rate so the only way the organisers can make sure they don't have to end up paying more money for the room is to overbook, the last manchester social over 50% of the confirmed people attended, last night it was over 60%, we didn't have any option. Big thanks to Alandlee for what they did, hugzzies, xxx

Surely if you had a problem with access to the venue, a simple email to the organiser to explain the situation and ask for a reason would have been more productive than to tarnish them in the forum.

The couple in front of us couldn't get in either, but they were on the reserved list and took a chance on the night.

if people arrived at 10.30 what do you expect when it started at 8.30, host want to party to.

like ruby says we can never say how many is going to turn up on a nite because of the time wasters we have to extend that list.

my last social i was panicking a bit because my list got to 200 and i had to close it, but it was under 100 that turned up so THAT IS NOT THE HOST FAULT EITHER WAY.

people that was on reserve lists should not be turning up.

and like linda said if you had a drink out side for 10 mins or so you would have got in. all you needed to do was go next door for a drink and wait and people was coming and going so would have got in eventually.

FANTASTIC NITE _landlee and ruby n sally. til lthe next one xxxxxxxx

Why would u turn up so late to a social and expect to get in? Linda had posted the list of how many were coming, so everyone knew it was gonna be a busy one.

it was a beautiful nite so easy to have sat outside or in the club downstairs till there was space. There was always tonnes of us sitting outside chatting, so cant see the reasons behind the complaints xxxx Brilliant nite linda ty xxxxxxxx

nuttz, this is al typing.. i was very concerned when i saw this on the forum because the agreement with The Crunch management was only people will refuse who's allowed in or not was the social organire(s) unless they are not fit to going into club I.e. D*unk. i have just phoned Crunch asked them to explain what happened and they said no one refused any social members, i have gave them your description and they are now looking into CCTV cameras to see who's refused you. i will update this page as soon as they come back to me and it is very suprized me no one see you out side that time because we were all having a drink and fags xx

Those who were allowed into the social without any problems will of course say it wasn't a fuck up, but they would have a different opinion on the matter had they been refused entry. You all seem to be of the same opinion that we should have known we weren't going to get in after 10pm...How were we supposed to know if it was our first time going to a social on our own. We didn't know how small the venue was, we assumed that being given a confirmation meant exactly that, confirmed entry into the social. Arriving at a venue in Manchester at 10:30 is not considered late...We went to a social last August with a group of people from a private party on the Quays, but the party organiser had arranged for us to go beforehand, so we were not aware of procedures. On that occasion, we all arrived after 10:30 and it was in a much better venue, downstairs somewhere, even the atmosphere was different... If numbers were such an issue, surely everyone should have been made aware of a first come first in rule...yes we saw the long list of names, but how were we supposed to know how small the venue was if we hadn't been there before...

We were surprised by the number of single men there, some of which were quite rude, clearly pissed and ogling, not even with a smile on their faces, it felt quite seedy and uncomfortable. Lots of cliques and lots of stares, even a few pointing fingers, but no smiling faces...very disappointing and quite unsocial, not social :/

We honestly felt uncomfortable and left after one drink... Ruby in stockings, you were really polite and we know you had no control over the situation, but you didn't even ask us our names, on either attempt to get in, not even when you did let us in, we could have been anybody... You did look gorgeous though x We also met one half of a couple we knew and he was the only friendly person we saw, by this point though we'd had enough and left...ticking our own name off on the list as no one else had bothered to take it.

For those who think we're tarnishing the social on the forum, why shouldn't we give our honest opinion on our experience, just cause its different to yours doesn't mean we don't have a right tell people. We think people should know for future socials, especially first timers, they need to know that being confirmed on the guest list doesn't mean you will get in if you arrive after a certain time. Had we been aware of this then we would have made alternative babysitter arrangements or not gone at all.

Needless to say, we won't be going to anymore, sorry Alandlee but they're just not for us...you were lovely to us before the social and were very sorry that we didn't get to meet you x it wasn't meant to be obviously x we hope you continue organising the socials as there are clearly lots of people who enjoy them, they're just not for us x

Take care guys xxx

Wow how rude! At the end of the day, everyone has to make an effort to mingle at socials, I was there last night and quite frankly I find ur post extremely disrespectful to myself and everyone else that attended the social. If its not for u then fair enough but no need to slag off people that were there and did make an effort!!

Those hosting a social have a difficult time when its all reckoned up.

Lots of people say they will turn up yet many dont. Some venues have a minimum spend on the bar, charge for hire etc and the hosts will be responsible for this.

From our own experience (we are on our second social as hosts now) and from others in Scotland I would suggest there are 2 ways of eliminating the timewasters.

1. If its a hired venue, negotiate a small deposit and the rest of the payment 4 weeks before the event. In the mean time those that want to come have to pay. Even if you over-inflate your entry free to ensure that you get your money back… If you go majorly over and have money spare, it either goes to charity or given back to those attending as a drinks voucher. Our first ball, we planned on 80 attending so made it £20 a head. 150 eventually paid and about 140 turned up, so everyone got a drinks voucher back.

2. If its a free venue but the venue want a guarantee of a min number turning up, then ask for £5 deposit. Then give this back at the event.

We have, at the moment just over 180 paid to attend our social at the end of this month. We have had a few cancelling on us and all have had refunds where someone from the reserve list has taken their place.

We wont be out of pocket and as there is a list of who is paid up, no one on that list will be refused entry. The venue holds just over 200 but we have kept the number allowed lower to ensure there is enough room to dance and mingle.

For the record, we were in a big group inside the venue, we were all laughing and joking, the banter was flowing, we talked to others, chatted, watched other groups getting on. We didnt see any single guys acting out of order, the people that spoke to our group were all respectful. Maybe we were in a different venue and happened to stumble across another swinger social, we must of as we didnt witness the "issues" some people claim they has in the venue.

Using the toilets I overheard people moaning that it was ridiculous that they had to queue for the toilet, that they had to queue to get a drink, that it was too hot......yadda yadda yadda. When I was too hot.......I took my jacket off, problem solved. As for queueing for the WC......or to get a drink? Welcome to the real world. In reality it was faster than many city centre bars.

Put it in perspective, in the big picture of things, is it life destroying that you couldnt get in? Or nearly pissed your pants? No. Stop the nastiness or Alandlee wont bother again. That would be a shame for those amongst us that dont whinge like Victor Meldrew about the slightest thing. We had a great night, others didnt, cest la vie.

IMHO, great work organisers and support.

_landlee social was free entry but have to have a certain amount go over the bar, all we are guilty of is the socials are getting popular and popular, but we can never tell how many would turn up. my last social there was 200 on the list under 100 turned up but i made sure i catered for that and wasn't out of pocket. we have to make quick decisions and its never going to be always the right thing to do.

but on the topic of this post. all people needed to do was go next door get a drink and go sit out side on the chairs provided. till the ques goes down and they start letting people in again. all the pubs do this on that strip same in any town center. they have to stick with fire regulations.

as for the venue ok stairs can be a problem but i think its not a bad venue.

ideally placed and we all loved it, yes it was hot at times up there but would we have been saying the same if it was last week when it was cold?

"Why would u turn up so late to a social and expect to get in? Linda had posted the list of how many were coming, so everyone knew it was gonna be a busy one. "

unfortunately some of us had to work late on saturday, but being on the list we would have expected to get in.

we were told on more than one occassion

that there would be no chance of getting in later as the numbers had been reached and even if people left no more would be admitted as they may return.

Was ogling all night To stare at impertinently, flirtatiously, or amorously.

Impertinently ok I broke that rule maybe I was a bit saucy at times

Flirtatiously ok I definitely broke that rule as a single male as well on many occasions.

And the last one Amorously Strongly attracted or disposed to love, especially sexual love. well I wouldn't say I broke that one not really as I didn't fall in love with anyone but sex is always a good thing being a swinger lol.

And god I was d*unk lol even the couples I was with was so don't think it was just single males that was d*unk to be honest and most of us come with couples as i did by invite as I always do, we all had a great time at this social and cant wait to do more ogling at the next one xxxxx

We went to the social but we was refused entry, waited at the bar next door and had a few drinks, checked to see if we could get in periodically, still wasn't allowed as it was too full, met a couple of couples who couldn't get in at the bar we was at, got on great with them and we gave up on the social and moved on to a club and then party at one of the couples hotel and ended up having one of the best nights, so by default, we had a fantastic night at the social lol.

I understand shit happens and venues get full, maybe a bit of better planning next time or a warning that there is limited capacity, but all in all, I will be putting our names down for the next one.

i'd love to know who told you that on several occasions, because every person I spoke to about the situation got the same story, please go downstairs for a drink and come back up in half an hour as people are leaveing and we are monitoring the numbers situation.

Much more than that we couldn't have done, I'm so angry that people have vented their frustrations in an open forum and then blocked us so we can't reply to them in a civilised mannner, it's so childish it's like being back at school again, perhaps the only option is to ask for a refundable deposit from now on but then even that creates more administration and work for the organisers.

Take care friends, xxx

I said hello to loads of couples new and old friends its how I role I want to get known as a nice single male and over the years I think I have achieved that, just loved this social as there was a very big mixture of young and old swingers I don't think the organisers could have done much more and if there was a problem with the bouncers downstairs maybe hire or ask one on fab who knows most people to help out for the night so the door staff know who people are, but to be honest they was fine with us coming in and out all night xxx

"Those who were allowed into the social without any problems will of course say it wasn't a fuck up, but they would have a different opinion on the matter had they been refused entry.

Take care guys xxx"
