A Question on Upper Age Limit Messages

Hi Collective

Was wondering what your thoughts are on messaging a profile when you are at the upper limit of what they are looking for.

A) Do you think you are likely to get a response

B) Is the reality more a case they’d never really meet someone of that age

Or is it more likely ..

C) It’s a buyers market when it comes the the male to female/couple ratio so the likelihood of any meeting is slim at best when you no longer consider yourself a “Young Stud”

Lol Interested to know what peoples views are.

Should people be made to change from their 18-99 Age option ?

A. I don't think that the age of someone within the set message filter, is actually a deciding factor to responding. It's simply a way to reduce incoming messaging numbers for some.

As long as you are within that age range, I expect them to view your profile and then to decide whether to read & or respond.

B.

It'll depend on how they are using the site.

If they actually have a preferred age range then probably. If they selected a narrow range to simply control incoming message numbers....

C.

Many many people don't want young studs, rather they are looking for older people.

Should people be made to change from the 18-99 range.

No. A lot of people don't use any filters or change the age ranges because they are happy (or want to) interact with every/anyone and restricting the age range isn't something that should be compulsory.

Everyone's milage may vary and may change depending on life

We'd be far more likely to react well to a nicely written message (by mail or in chat) from someone outside our age range than a crass or disgusting one liner from someone within it.

There are some things we won't compromise on but age is one of those things we'd be flexible about if we felt the person was otherwise a good match. As has been stated above though, the volume of messages means we have to set the limit somewhere. In the chatrooms we'd happily chat to someone nice whatever their age.

Our age limits are set to the ages we want to meet. If someone is *genuinely* the age of our upper limit and we liked them we'd consider meeting after restrictions are lifted.

We don't want a young stud, if we did we'd ask for one

And no, I don't think people should be made to change the 18-99 option. Oldies like us need some hope

Great Sentiment, I think that’s why the site has such diverse thinking, being true to your own values when messaging and putting sentiment behind it is that way I approach messaging. Not everyone will response. Not everyone has the same view. It’s nice to see that there is a vast range of opinions on the site.

What’s the old phrase, you are as old as you feel. So having a positive mindset and zest for life no matter what your body clock is set too, is not and should not be a factor in how you perceive yourself or your worth

Hope you don’t think I was being rude or assuming anything about your ages. Wasn’t my intention.

I suppose that is always a risk isn’t it when written down and not able to speak with people face to face. As you don’t get the emphasis or inflection in how it was said.

Oh the minefield or the interweb. lol

The end of Covid and Lockdowns can’t come soon enough. Lol

Good Lord no. People do assume a lot about our ages but then people make assumptions about all ages .

Our attitude to age is that its better than the alternative and that every age has its benefits and downsides. I mean, free prescriptions for a start

I agree about tone and intent being sometimes misinterpreted but I'm an old hand at internet forums and can spot veiled insults a mile off

"I *normally get slapped around now*"

Showing a sense of humour on here helps doesn’t it .... and yes. Remind me not to be stood next to your making those kind of cheeky comments... and not into being slapped.

Although THAT type of comment could start a whole new thread. Lol no
