"Dambulla- Sigiriya Rock, (with the palace ruins on top, if I remember correctly) and Temple Caves. Try and ge to an elephant sanctuary, but chances are you’ll see enough elephants crossing the roads on your journeys." We have booked to go here in September, staying at the Water Gardens in Sigiriya where you can see Lion Rock from the grounds; really looking forward to our trip and we have a couple of other excursions already booked for while we are there.

"In Sri Lanka last few days, and everything is getting back to normal. Great tropical island." Watching news with interest, our trip is all booked and paid for, for Sept and was really looking forward to visiting this beautiful country, now wondering if we should skip this leg if our holiday and go straight to the Maldives, but would probably need to book that now. Really feel for this country and the fact it has just started to get back on its feet after years of unrest and I am hoping that things settle back to been as safe as anywhere else in the world and all travel restrictions are lifted.
