I arrive on the 20 th in Hua Hin there was a slight change of plan as of when I’d go there but I definitely want my girlfriend to be kind of introduced to the scene so she knows what it’s all about as she was quite surprised that I am into this kind of stuff. She was under the impression that not many Thai people do this kind of things and that it was very strange that couples would enjoy playing with different women and men so a social would be great . If you want we could meet elsewhere if it’s more convenient for you . We aren’t planning on going anywhere but I could easily arrange a day trip and also she was on about going back to Bangkok with me just before I go back to the UK but that would be on the 6 th or 7 th of May .

Sorry to Segway.

How ever you all seem very knowledgable about Thailand and surrounding areas.

I am in Koh Samui for a wedding in April 13-17th. I wanted to experience a few local delights and wondered what the sort of rules were there.

Staying in a resort hotel. Are they lax and relaxed about company joining you? Is it safe to venture out?

Looking for any advice

Indeed quite a lot of hotels ask for quest ID which is not a bad idea if you are new on the scene.

Also some of the more upmarket hotels may ask for a Joiner fee, so you maybe need to be aware of that too. In the meantime enjoy your stay

From my experience that is more accurate advice than what has been posted above. Some hotels won't even let girls in overnight even for a fee

to be honest nothing will prepare you for the culture shock ......as a general rule and not to cause offence think of yourself as a walking atm and always keep that in mind its very easy to lose track of how much your spending if you dont.eg pay a bar fine you still pay lady drink prices in some bars.

There are wonderful people but lots want to empty your wallet

id say your right for high end places but the vast majority of what most folk look for guests are fine or sign in.

Im in a condo complex and its clearly stated guests are fine. Mid market price range

When you enter Bangkok at Suvarnabhumi airport, Immigration will put a 30-day residence stamp in your passport. This is free, but you may have to queue for up to about half an hour, depending on the late arrivals of previous flights.

For single males, stay at the Dynasty Inn, Sukhumvit Soi 4 (near Nana Plaza). This hotel’s coffee shop has the front half open to the street. If you sit there for a few beers or coffees, you will be able to chat to other single males about the merits of various destinations, and how to get to them. Also, of course, passing girls and ladyboys.

Tripadvisor is a good source of hotel info.

Not for the 30-day residence stamp. You will be given a two-part Immigration card to complete on the aircraft into Bkk. You complete both halves and give it to the Immigration officer with your passport. He keeps one half. and returns the other with your passport. You do not have to supply any onward-booking information, or prove that you can afford the fare.

If you over-stay the 30 days, you will have to pay a B500 per day fine to Emigration at the airport. But if you are caught with an expired permit by a police random check on the street, you will go to jail, and it will cost you a LOT of time and money to get out.

If you find that you want to stay in Thailand for more than the 30 days, just fly to Vientiane, Phnom Penh, Hanoi, etc., and back - on the same day, if you like. This will cancel your old permit, and you will receive a new 30-day permit on your return. You can go through Emigration and Immigration as often as you want, providing it is at airports.

Staying at an airport hotel my not be a good idea.

Bangkok suffers from severe traffic congestion, especially during business hours. If you go straight to your booked hotel from the airport sometime after say 12:30, traffic will be relatively light. But if you leave a Suvarnabumi hotel after 8 am, you will hit the rush hour traffic, and it could take you hours to get to your booked hotel, depending on where it is. Two very major Bangkok roads currently have severe traffic restrictions due to the construction of Skytrain extensions. Chaos reigns supreme!

Taxi Tip: At the airport, when you have collected your luggage and hit the public Arrivals hall, ignore the “Taxi” signs. You will have to queue. Instead, go up one of the escalators to the public “Departures” hall. Walk straight out of any of the large exits, and get into a cab that has just off-loaded passengers.

Bangkok Post Report 3-4-19

CHON BURI: Pattaya's rebuilt beach was badly damaged by Tuesday afternoon’s thunderstorm (2-4-19), with much sand washed away by the torrential rain that pounded and flooded the seaside city.

The downpour and flood run off gouged into the sandfill along the 2.6 kilometres of the remodelled beach, leaving large, unsightly craters. Deputy mayor Manot Nongyai, municipal officials and workers surveyed the damaged sections late Tuesday night.

A front-end loader was sent to dredge sand from the sea to fill in the craters. However, only some holes opposite the entrance to Pattaya Soi 2 were filled up with sand. Municipal workers could not fill the many craters in the area near the entrance of Pattaya Soi 6 down to South Pattaya because of tidal currents. Work was resuming on Wednesday.

The Marine Department budgeted more than 400 million baht to dredge the sand from an island off the coast and use it to expand the width of the beach to 35 metres, after it had been whittled away by years of tidal and storm erosion.

The recently completed project was due for handover to the city in the next couple of months - before it was damaged by Tuesday’s storm-flood.
