Been to Sri Lanka a few times and loved it. Always head south though around Galle. Unawatuna area is our favourite area. Problem you have is Sri Lanka is a big island so lots of travel involved in getting to the different areas.

Passikudah, Dambulla, Negombo, Unawatuna and back to Colombo. Would happily go back again this year and next.
