Last year we stayed at the Centara Grand Mirage Beach Resort, nice hotel and a 5 min taxi from the centre. We had dinner at the Hilton (fabulous views) which is in the centre of Beach Road where all the bars etc are.

If you want to stay in th middle of the madness and noise, Hilton. If you prefer a quiet hotel after partying, then I can suggest Centara.

We were only there for 1 night, which was enough Rest of the time we stayed at the Banyan Tree in Bangkok before moving onto Patong (like Blackpool on steroids) in Phuket, which was far more fun and livelier!

We stayed in Amari Gardens, it's a beautiful hotel, but the other end of the main road to Walking Street.

Blue Sky Hotel in Soi 5 or @mind apartments.

Both in town, but quiet so you can swim/relax without too much noise.

No charge for joiners also.

Pattaya the real sin city

Areca nice medium priced

Lk metropol more upmarket also look at chabahut bang in the centre but you wouldn't know has gardens that drown out the hectic hustle and bustle noises of pattaya

Can thoroughly recommend the Areca Lodge.

Soi Diana Inn.

Friendly staff, very reasonably priced. Nice pools and gym. Very clean rooms.

Depends what you want but in pattaya (and in Thailand in general) you might as well go 5star all the way for the cost. We've been about 15 times and you can always found a good deal. If you want quiet but nice and near the action try Cape Dara, Dusit Thani, Amari Ocean Tower and for something a little different Siam@Siam. The Centaras are all good but a little further out

Bolton and Pattaya,Thailand

I've stayed at The Chaba Hut Resort on Soi Buakhao and you wouldn't think that your only50 metres from the hustle and bustle of the bars and nightlife.

It's got bungalows in a garden surrounding,nice pool and friendly staff.

Overseas

I'm in Pattaya 10/15 times per year;

My hotel choices would be;

Top End, Amari/Holiday Inn/Hilton ($110/180), Beach Road - opposite end to Walking St

Middle of Road, Siam by Siam ($75/120) Soi 2/3, Second Road

Good value ($45/$70), Areca Lodge, LK Metro/Second Road

Amazing value ($33/50), Hotel Concept Marcus, Pratumnak Hill

All clean, good service with an excellent breakfast
