Hmmmm.

It's a bit expensive this time of year because you are now competing with the French holiday season too.

We used to live there - and have just returned (after a couple of weeks holiday) On Sunday.

Hotles really will be expensive starting the 2nd of August till the end of August.

However. There are half a billion campsites that take overnight stays from one night to however long you wish.

If you are driving expect a 11 hour non-stop drive from Dunkirk. (AVOID Calais at all costs) If you wish to fly then find a UK airport that will fly to Paris, Then Paris to Beziers local airport, then taxis or Bus to the Cap' is normally expensive anyway Hotel and room wise, more so in August.

Campsites are very feasable - just walk in off the street to any with a festival tent and they will always find you space.

Good luck (plan better next year lol).

I forgot Paris CDG to Beziers by Train. SNCF are reasonable.

sncf couchette non-stop overnight. Always uncomfortably hot but at least you can sleep.

. How easy it is to find accommodation will depend on the time of year that you go. Accommodation outside the gated area is about 50 % cheaper and the restaurants are also much better value for money .

However, staying inside the gate , though a lot more expensive is more convenient . A member of this site may be able to assist you with accommodation. Their user name is swingatcapdagde . Hotel Eve are also worth investigating and the staff use both .

I have stayed in Hotel Eve and also booked accommodation through member swingatcapdagde . Their accommodation is of a very high quality , they are flexible on dates , and they also supply a bottle of wine , a beer , and milk on your arrival at the apartment .

Thanks for the advice.

Seems like it's not an easy thing to arrange but having said that I get the feeling it's a worth the effort.

Sorry to go off topic, but what is the situation at Calais? I'm due to oasis through there next week and while I don't trust the press at all, there obviously is something going on!

Any recent experience/advice welcome.

I'm also looking to go but looking for the complete package like Teletext holidays. I hate organising everything individually so will be watching his thread closely.

Dover is always slow this time of year - aim to be at the port at least three hours before departure - DFDS have all but ceased operations through Calais - though PO still operate through the port.

If you are lucky you can get through within an hour or so of your booked sailing if you are unlucky it may take you more than three hours.

Go through Dunkirk if you can its two hour instead of 90 mins sailing (delay can still be the same but less likely).

The migrant camps are literally within a spit of Calais lock your doors and keep moving - having said that it is rare that you will be bothered by migrants at all though they may be blocking roads out of and into the port. It looks a lot more scary than it actually is.

DON'T take the M20 A20 instead take the M2 A2 Route. If you are on the M25 through London and the Dartford crossing make sure you pay for the Dartford Crossing BEFORE you drive over it - you can do that online. A !00 plus fine if you fail to pay by midnight (number plate recognition system operates.)

I think that's it . . . lol.

Bon Voyage

When are you planning to go? I'm going to be in the Cap, with another couple, for September 2-7 but haven't yet booked accommodation.

We're going to do so now, as we're not going for a standard Saturday to Saturday week and the agents need to assess what they have available from standard bookings before taking non-standard ones.

I've booked this late on all my 7/8 visits to date, which were all of four or five nights duration only, and have never had any difficulty in obtaining an apartment (perhaps not my first choice, but there you are!).

If you were intending going at the same time as ourselves, perhaps we could work on something?

There are about ten letting agents etc. in the Cap, so there's plenty of choice and all details can be wrapped up by email and perhaps a final call.

Also, as you're in the UK, you can get direct flights to Beziers from Bristol, Luton and Manchester (by Ryanair - check their site). No need to go through Paris. You then only have two short bus rides (total cost €2.50) to the front gate of the Cap - and the local bus is scheduled to meet all flight arrivals!

AGN = Agence Genevieve Naturisme, one of the rental agencies in the Cap.

See my post immediately above that might answer a few of your questions.

My brother and I stayed in the campsite Oltra in the village for two nights in July on our motorbike trip through Spain and France. I emailed Oltra the day before to make sure they had space. It was about 40 euros per night for two small tents on one pitch. The facilities are good so it's a cheap option worth considering.

We go every year during July for 2 weeks but again in September for A long weekend we fly out of Manchester on a Saturday this year and return on a Tuesday 3 night 4 day break flights came in at £225 for 2 people return and accomadation via laterooms .com staying at Naturevs spa hotel £525.

All accomadation is expensive in Cap and most apartments we've stayed in over the years have been below what we call decent standard however Natureva spa is excellent as are the other hotels ie hotel eve Babylon etc.

We've never had any problems finding accomadation it's always hyped up that every where is fully booked but that's a myth as far as we're concerned you will find others have different views on that though .

Wow some great information!

We haven't gone firm on dates yet but we were thinking the last weekend in Aug but perhaps we should push it into Sept if the place remains busy?

We'd better get our google on!

It's defiantly slowing down there in September and toward the end of the month were told the place is just about closed down but we've been on or about the 12th September for the last 3 years and had a great time busy enough but not rammed warm enough for the beach but not scorching!

As for fun well the place never changes that's always on offer.

As someone else has also said. You don't need to fly via Paris. Ryanair fly direct to Beziers from quite a few UK airports.

Always wanted to ask that question

My Pleasure.

Tag and I have been meaning to write a DIY guide to the many different ways to get to the Cap'. Maybe we will get around to it in time for next year.

We would agree with that, but would add that they are viewed/welcomed pretty much the same way as in any other swinging environment, club Etc.

If you are personable and friendly then couples that only play with couples will be mostly polite bit not want to play with you. (but you could always get lucky)

Couples that want to play with single guys (and there are usually lots) will be more than welcoming.

As everywhere single guys are a bit more limited as to where they can go, foam and pool party's for example are couples only, and you will also pay premium prices in the clubs. Jeux de Mains, Le Tantra, and the sauna club are all single friendly. Expect to pay 50-60€ entrance, but keep an eye out for the flyers offering some discounts.

Ryanair fly from UK to Beziers. A2A taxi from airport to Cap d'Agde = 35 Euros. Very busy this time of year, may be impossible to book just a weekend on or off the campsite.

We'll do some digging and see what what can pull off but it looking less likely for this year at present.

I find it very surprising no one does package trips from the uk? I know it's not hard to arrange things but we are very very busy at present.

Never say never!
