just this minute!

I run a travel agents and exchange company in tenerife. the rate is always higher here than the uk. As we work on a much smaller margine. I would think this is the same in lanza. today our rate is 1.16 no commission. If u get travelers cheques dont get the euro cheques get sterling cheques. As you will be charged com when u get there as well as when u buy them. Just ask 1 of the bar men in your nearest british bar they always know the best agents.

Hi

Take Euros with you rather than pounds - you will always get a poorer rate there than here. I would not advise using a 'hole in the wall' - also a poor rate and high charges.

Buying Euros in the UK - go to the Post Office - a lower commission and never ever buy them at the airport.

And of course use your hotel room safe.

Have a good time.

Fully agree with tenerifecouple..we have lived on and off on the cosat del sol for 25yrs....and the rate here on the coast is allways better than in the UK...Like everything you have to look around a little..avoid like the plague anywhere offering different rates for different amount..useually the people offering moneygram facilities...we did notice in gran canaria there were change offices offeering up to 10 cents to the pound LESS than we could get on the mainland coast..and we also find atm machines offer good rates on our sterling accounts in the uk..Your choice ..good swinging we hope and have a good time regardless....xx
