Is anyone into the Beatles? If so every Monday evening in La Bodega (Port Ambonne) from 21.30hrs there is a very good tribute duo - one English & one French - a good night is guaranteed. We are going anybody else?

"There were 4 members in the beatles"
true, but there are only 2 still alive! It's a goodnight for those into the group. It's a nice start to an evening of fun.

Do they sing the correct lyrics in English? Just about every live act I've seen there has been toe-curlingly bad, singing some key lines in English then mumbling the lyrics they haven't bothered to learn - not even having the common sense to sing in French. It's hilarious at first, then just reeks of chancers with guitars and backing tapes making an easy buck rather than professional musicians plying their craft.

Hey, but there's me, the discerning music fan, preferring to be entertained by talented people who've put the work in, rather than listening to something two steps below those Top of the Pops LPs you used to get in the 70s, or the worst Phoenix Nights act you can imagine. I'd rather they put some CDs on than paying someone to "perform" that drivel!

I must say that this is just my little rant about the shit standard of the entertainers in general there, not this Beatles act, who I've not seen. They may be,for all I know, fantastic, everyone knows the Beatles so it'll be harder to bluff through (unless they are hoping the audience sings for them )

I hope you have a good night out regardless.

This sadly is the way round these parts. I'd be the same if I was trying to sing in French. But the locals are quite happy to listen, the band makes a few bucks, the bar owner gets more bums on seats so everyone wins. Apart from the Brits who have to listen...!!

We play and see a lot of live music here. Backing tracks are the norm in the beach bars but move away from there and music gets a lot better in the towns and villages.

We will pop along to see these guys soon....

One of the duo is English & is a great performance. The French guy is a great guitarist & and sings the odd song. Of all the bars in port ambonne it was the only one full of people. Quite a few Brits!
