Anyone tried booking Catarina - Gran Canaria??

Odd thing - tried to book the IFA Catarina for November today through a UK tour operator & whilst hotel is there for selection - when you try to book it throws an error.... Spoke to thomsons / First choice & they said that there were no rooms available - however when I have changed dates to other random dates through the year - still no joy...also tried other operators - I will email the hotel directly & it would appear you can make a booking directly but at an exorbitant rate.... might be back to the maspalomas princess for this one....

Anyone else had a problem this week - seemed ok last week....

We were able to book it yesterday for Sept but changed last min as read it's a totally non smoking hotel even in the grounds or on the balconies of the rooms -don't get us wrong, we are considerate smokers but not into that sort of restriction when on holiday lol

Try alpharooms, you should manage to book through them and much cheaper than thomsons

No - Alpharooms has the IFA Continental - but not the Caterina... very odd.. & have tried different dates (perhaps they know its us - lol)

was in the hotel in nov last year they allow smoking around the bar and any areas outside also have a smoke area when eating xxx defo allow

it is a very well liked hotel and we booked for AUG they only had 4 rooms left then they do hold back some rooms but you would have to ring the hotel and book direct

We just got back from the catarina ,and not sure when the no smoking policy kicked in ,but there was smokers around the pool area and on the balconies,they even have a smoking dining area outside.x

We have stayed in both IFA Catarina and Princess to be honest there isn't much difference. Because you are in DPI with Catarina the Clubs are within walking distance, same with the (Nude) beach, just about.

Downside the food isn't great in the Catarina (but that may just b us).

Thx all... We have stayed in the Princess at least 8 times and the Catarina 4 times now... Agree that the food is better in the Maspalomas Princess but the Catarina is within walking / staggering distance... Guess we will be making some taxi drivers nights on our way back after our nights out this year... Lol

We have stayed in both IFA Catarina and Princess as you all say, its all the same, Catarina is good for all the clubs, been there lots , Nothing wrong with the food but if your there over 2 weeks its all the same as its a 2 week rota .

No... The Caterina is not a swingers hotel.... There is a mixture of people stay there..... But as it is located close to the Cita centre (where most of the swinger clubs are) and not too far from the Jumbo centre (where all the gay clubs are) then you do get a lot of swingers and same sex couples staying there. There is also a roof terrace where you can sunbathe naked... Apart from that it is a 'normal' Hotel.

And just to annoy us.... The Catarina is now back online to book for November.....bit late for us as we will back back in the Princess for a change anyhow... But if others are looking to book - it is available.

Just had 2 weeks in the catarina again, fab hotel good food,nude roof terrace for fun after 6pm,when all the none swingers go down for there evening meal, near the cita and all the swingers clubs, 3 mins from the dunes,10 mins from the 2x2 very nice hotel,4 star.

Lots of swingers stay there NOT A SWINGER HOTEL. but you will see most of them around the clubs, and lots of play there when you return from the night clubs, or so they say!! lol. Been there lots and would recommend it , not cheep but its a holiday for f..ks sake.

i have been trying to book Catarina hotelfirst choice states booked up any sugestions of were else to stay that is close to cita and yumbo please really want AI aswell want to go end of Nov for two weeks

Try Neckermann Reisen - German arm of Thomas Cook. Better rates all round. Don't ask! Use Google translate. We saved £hundreds.
