Car hire Gran Canaria airport

Hi all

Looking for comments on best companies to deal with at Las Palmas airport.

Looking:

To pick up and drop off at airport

For no full tank of fuel on pickup

For compact car

To collect at terminal not away from it

Any other help would be good.

We normally either get picked up but our friend has moved to USA or we normally catch public transport.

Thanks in advance.

Hertz seem to be a good one as you pick up with 1/4 tank then return with the same seems this was best deal for us as I did a lot of work on this and balancing it up we found we save about £30/£40

Burnley'ish

We have used "Top Car Autoreisen" for the past 7 years without any issues. Cars are always clean and well maintained.

You return the car with the same amount of fuel as when you picked it up

Desk located in arrivals hall, book online and collect car on arrival.

Hertz seem to be the best for ease of use and zero hassle. The best route though is to become a gold member (free) via their website first. This makes the process of pick up much quicker.

Currently sitting at our hotel bar in gran canaria waiting to go back to the air port.

We used auto resin - quick collection - no unexpected costs - we asked for a small compact car and got a pug 208 which had 2k on the clock and new car smell!

Will let you know about airport drop off in a couple of hours!

"Try DoYouSpain very good."

2nd that use them and see what prices come up

Then try the rest, most will charge for a full tank of fuel and return it empty.

Thanks for that. We are steering towards Autoreisin as by the looks of it you sort your paperwork out whilst waiting for suitcases and no crappy fuel surcharges.

We have used Plus Cars for years in both lanzarote and GC.

No hidden extras, no fuss, always been waiting at the airport for us, full insurance, drop off with the same amount of fuel when collected. Sometimes the cars are not the newest, but don't really care as they never check them when you drop them off at airport. Just park up, drop off car park ticket and keys in the green letter box inside car park.

Really good price too.

I'm looking at the bill from 28/09/13 to 10/10/13 last holiday in GC.

Total price 132.35 euros.

No deposit, you pay in full with card on collection at airport.

Send an e-mail to miguel@lanzaroteinformation.com

He will respond same day for car hire in Lanzarote or GC.

No deposit needed.

We have a 10 day hire in Feb costing us 109 Euro

Also note Top Car Autoreisen and Autoreisen have 2 Websites and we have found the Top Car one is usually the cheaper

Re Deposits a 200 Euro one is required if you use a Debit car don`t remember ever getting one taken when using a Credit card although one year we used Record Rent a Car and they kept a Credit Card imprint and also they were not in the Airport but supplied free transport to and from their office, their cars seemed a little older to

We have used Hertz and Orlando. Just used Orlando and for a 5 day hire. We were charged £73. We used €20 of petrol. and covered well over 500 kms. The tank was half full and returned the same. The car was a Nissan Micra. Had done over 85000km but was well maintained, and ideal as a small car on the very twisty mountain roads. I was working out there and needed to travel every day.

Both Hertz, Orlando and Avis are good at GC.

Hope that helps too.

Concidering that we usually spend approx 70Euro for taxi between the airport and PDI we can actually say that we can have a car for the cost of 30-50Euro a week...

Not bad...

Just booked a car with PlusCar for this year.

Collect at airport 26/04/2014, drop off at airport 10/05/2014.

Total price including insurance and taxes, no extras whatsoever for 14 days is 138.74 euros.

Pay the guy at the airport with the PLUSCAR sign at the meeting point in the arrivals terminal. He will show you your car in the car park.

Drop the car back in the car park and drop off the parking ticket and car keys in the green letter box located on the back wall of the car park.

All very painless.

See you all there on the 26th April.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWW hate Orlando with a vengence!!! we booked with a 3rd party agent thru the Nett!! Got Orlando...waited 50 mins at the airport with the bus driver!!! and he then drove like a maniac to the depot!!! Was over charged for a full tank of fuel..and you can see the petrol station from the depot!!! and then told to bring it back empty!!! HOW do you take a car back empty...We only asked if they had a Full bring back FUll..and the guy nearly threw us out the office..If it hadnt been in the middle of an industrial estate at 4pm on xmas eve..We would have walked away...and car was a knackered 5 yr old..UPGRADE!!!!!!

We have been caught out in Malaga using a 3rd party, think it was called someting like carhire3000, found it by placing 'cheap car hire spain' in google.

Never again, over 1 hour wait to get the car was bad enough, never mind all the add ons, extra insurance to cover the all inclusive insurance booked. Apparently, the 'all inclusive' insurance does have a very high excess so another 45 euros was needed to cover this. Full tank on collection, which cost a fortune, bring back empty, impossible. I'd love to know how much they make just on the charge for a full tank of fuel, expect it to be arond 20/25 euros per car. Nice little earner over the year.

I have seen a gentleman demand his money back as he returned the car with a full tank of fuel, after lots of argument and rule checking he did eventually get it, minus admin fee!! Won't recommend it, just book with a car hire direct as if this kind of thing happens at the airport it can get the holiday off to a bad start.

Have a great time.

See you all in April. Liz and Paul xxxxx

Hi Liz and Paul

Did pluscar offer you extra CDW as I see like all of them do not cover windows tyres and underside of car..

I also see that top car Autoreisen do offer extra CDW at 3€ per day not much more than quoted by uk firm as an added extra before we go about £4-5 over the rental hire period.

To be honest I don't know.

We just showed up at the airport, walked to the car, paid by card, drove off. Returned to car park at end of holiday with the same amount of fuel showing when collected and parked it up.

Thats it, no messing about.

I maybe should ask about windows, tyres and underside.

Useing Autoresin - my credit card bill has just come through.

Ive been charged £30 more than expected - so - do I make an issue out of it? Probably not for £30 - but if they do this every time it can add up im sure.

The car was filled with petrol at the station on site at the airport - so - it was as full as it could be.

See our earlier post on the 3rd jan..we had same thing!!! Ours was only 12€ BUT there is NO way they could have put that much petrol in the car...we too filled above what was in when we collected the car ....actualy at the petrol station at the Airport..maybe they are suplementing the cheap price by doing a back door charge....

I've never had any bother with charges added when we get back and I guess I've booked a hire car must be about 15/20 times. Always pay the CDW & fuel when we get there caus you never know where you goin to end up on the island. This time it's Goldcar think I was 120€ for the week just caus I wanted something a bit bigger since there is 4 of us goin. Usually it's about the 65€ for the week + the add ons. When we first started booking you got it empty £ returned it empty, but alas now just another con on the island to get more money out of you.

Still guess we wouldn't have it any other way or we wouldn't go back as often.

2 weeks and we'll be sitting back in the pub at this time.

Enjoy people.
