Just been showing a couple around Amsterdam and Utrecht. They loved it.

Food:

Cheap? Go to the fries in the wall. Cannot go wrong with them as cheap option. Many bad and expensive food in dam square and the rld. Or go to Hema on the main shopping street. They sell bread ham and cheese separately.

Something dutch? Go to blue° cafe. Really high up with the best view of Amsterdam. It is in shopping centre near the flower market. 7 euros for a sandwich instead of a 25 euro steak.

More upmarket. The eye. It is a theatre across the river behind central station. Quite classy food with the view of the river. You can catch a classic movie.

Museums or attractions:

Flower market is a single street where they sell tulips and other flowers.

Rijksmuseum is the national museum. Recently opened after being shut for many years.

Vondelpark if it is sunny. Go for walks, cycling or roller blades.

Nemo is a kids science museum. Been twice since have an inner geek child.

Brewery in a windmill. Local brewery with their own beers.

Bruin cafes are like traditional pubs with lots of beers.

Anne Frank house. See where she hid during the war.

Heineken museum is good if you like to know about breweries. But it's cheaper to go to a bruin cafe.

Rld. Window shopping, sex shops, coffee shops etc. Still exploring it. No recommendations yet.

Any information I am happy to help. I know more about transport and some restaurants. Haha.

Experience, resident and tourist.
