Cap d'Agde in July

On our previous visit to Cap d'Agde we really enjoyed the afternoon action on the swingers section of the beach. We are heading there again in a few weeks' time, but have heard that there is a police clampdown on sex on the beach during July and August. Can anyone tell us whether this is the case - or whether we can expect some fun in the sun?

It's more obvious in August when France goes on holiday.

Entire families from new borns to grannies and grandads arrive and the cops try to ensure they aren't shocked by anything they see or hear.

The 'authorised version' is that people shouldn't have sex on the beach full stop but there's always a few unable to control themselves.

This tends to attract an audience and it's the audience which attracts the attention of the cops with BIG field glasses who hang out at the lifeguard station.

There's a bit of a tradition that the 'audience' start to whistle as soon as they see the cops getting close but, as you can imagine, this rather kills the moment.

Costa Blanca Spain...

We were on the beach yesterday and no sign of any police and lots af action

The only surprising thing we saw (and heard) was a couple with a baby in the middle of it all. The stupidity of this couple was astounding. Beside the fact that no child of any age should be on that section of the beach, they made matters worse by "protecting" the baby from the sun by putting it in one of those beach tents.

It was well over 30 in the shade here yesterday and the inside their tent must have been like a sauna. After a while the kid wouldn#t stop screaming and finally common sense overcame selfishness and they disapeared.

Think its from the beginning of July the Lifeguard/police post is manned, think these guys are attached to civil police force, they patrol beach regular in summer, never seen them approach anyone playing on beach, only having words with picture takers (if they hav`nt already had their phones/camera`s chucked in sea by the mob)

Mounted police do patrol the dunes regularly,(maybe twice a day) but they seem only interested in kicking all the lurkers out of nature reserve (dunes)this does sometimes curb some of the more enthusiastic exhibitionist beachgoers, but normal service does resume as soon as they`re gone.

Agde

The lifeguards are there all day every day. They are just that, lifeguards.... They won't get involved in prevention of any fun.

The Police however are a different thing entirely. They will chase off people in the dunes. No need for whistling, they are on horseback. If you don't see them coming, it's SpecSavers for you!!

If they are pushed into a corner by someone's behaviour, then arrests will follow. As happened two days ago, one guy put in the back of their van and taken off.

The horseback team on Monday were all female. Not Police and I forget what they had on their shirts, but they certainly work closely with the Police as evidenced by the speed at which they called for back up. And got it... There isn't a horseback team every day.

The strange thing is, at 6pm when they go home, the beach suddenly becomes a huge orgy with people making up for lost time...!!

Have Fun....

Costa Blanca Spain...

The Poilice were at the lifeguard station yesterday in quite large numbers. Two horses and four (ish) on foot. They were all looking towards the swingers beach for maybe 15 mins then they suddenly just vanished. Normal service resumed
