I can't work out if you're super woke and are genuinely insulted (which was not my intention), or merely in thrall to a Middle Eastern government. That said, am i worried about writing a comment teasing a Middle Eastern country about 'cutting things off'? Not in the slightest, particularly given the Middle East's general record of human rights - which i suspect i know more about than you do by the sounds of it. Last time i checked being gay is an imprisonable offence in Dubai (and elsewhere in the Middle East ... at least outside of certain so-called 'educational establishments) - unless you're lucky enough to know the right thugs and/or know who to bribe. Similarly, swinging can get you thrown into jail and/or deported, along with a $27,000 fine. Plus a fair risk of being sexually abused, whatever your sex, and the crime covered up, whilst being held in custody.

Given this barbaric excuse for civilisation i'm not too worried about any 'hurty words' on my part. Still a good place to earn some low tax moolah as an ex-pat, but in terms of sexual freedom pre-medieval.....

Least i sound too negative the people in Dubai are generally lovely, the food is great, and apart from the roads during rush hiur the place is extremely efficient. A smatteringof arabic, and cultural respect also goes a long way. However, compared to Oman, Iraq, Saudi and a few other more interesting places, it can feel a tadge 'artificial'. A great place to visit.

My comments on human rights, sexual freedom and corruption still stands though. Much of this is based on first hand experience.

Last arrest 'declared' as for being gay was 2015. But being aware that this was not a 'good look', arrests are now made under a broader 'public decency' category. Westerners in 5 star hotels are generally left alone, but for residents it's still a real issue. Of course 'special fines' may be paid...
