Is it straight forward to obtain a visa at the airport, if so what is the payment method? TIA

You only need a visa if arriving into Hurghada, really straight forward, have the cash in stirling, takes one minute so no time at all

You don't need a visa if you are staying in Sharm only.

British citizens must have a valid passport and a visa to enter most parts of Egypt. You can get your visa at the airport when you arrive, or from the Egyptian Consulate. If you’re only travelling to Taba or Sharm el Sheikh, though, you’ll be fine without one.

im from egypt and as i say You can get your visa at the airport when you arrive.
