Arrive in couple days. Never been, heard about the tourist tax in Cancun airport. Do we pay before or heard some people just ignore it and don’t pay? Advice welcome

There's an arrival tax (which is paid in your holiday price with TUI) then theres an eco tax you pay on arrival at hotel. Then theres an exit tax, which doesn't seem to be enforced nowadays and people aren't paying.

If you're going away with TUI, they should email you all the relevant information.

Thank you, that’s really helpful explanation! Gone with TUI as direct flight and so much easier! Definitely seems the departure tax I’ve heard isn’t enforced much x

Just back from Playa del Carmen, stayed at the Fives Hotel & Residence. Fantastic hotel but like most you cannot bring guests onsite.

If venturing into the town, use common sense - exercise caution and stick to the main tourist areas (5th Avenue).

Went shopping yesterday in 5th avenue. Felt as safe as houses.
