We stayed in the old one and visited the new one in November. Its bigger and much nicer, rooms are exactly the same layout as the old one.

For us to far away from Playa and don't like the fact you have to get cabs everywhere.

If it was in playa close to the centres it would be perfect.

We also use to stay at the old la mirage regular but havent stayed at the new one cos of the hassle of taxis everywhere

I know they are cheap but added up over a week it becomes expensive but i so miss the atmosphere

Most of the people who stay there end up at comeback bar anyway so we always get to meet them

"Wish we knew before lol so do u think a car is advised or how much is a taxi"

The new place is practiculary in Maspolomas so further away than the old one..

Taxi from the old place was about 4 euros each way to the cita.

The "new" La Mirage is fantastic, as other have said, rooms are replicas of the "old" but the furnishings and decor are more modern.

There are 31 bungalows, 2 playrooms, 2 jacuzzis, a good sized heated pool and a well stocked bar with a very well priced extensive food menu. There is a supermarket on site that sells most things you would need whilst on holiday including fresh bread daily. For the safety and privacy of guests, entering the complex is through 2 locked doors, and at night there is a security guard on the complex constantly patrolling.

As others have pointed out it is a taxi ride from the centre of Playa Del Ingles where all the nightlife is located. The taxi ride will cost between 3-4 Euros (less than a Gin & Tonic in the Comeback Bar!)each way.

Getting a taxi is not a "hassle" as reception will call you one which will pick you up direct from the door. Taxis back are readily available from anywhere on the street.

La Mirage is located outside of PDI within Maspalomas, and whilst it is not the cheapest of apartment complex's, there are lots that are far cheaper, and also lots that are more expensive, but we have never seen anyone or heard of anyone complain they have not had value for money nor had a good time, whilst others have searched for the cheaper option and have found things not to their liking.

All in all for the price of around £58 per bungalow per night we think it represents excellent value for money, the staff are fabulous who work hard to make your stay enjoyable and any problems are dealt with quickly and efficently.......which begs the question, do you get the same service for £40 per night or does that not matter, because you haven't had to pay for a taxi

Costa Blanca Spain...

_enandlisa

Thank you for the very informative post.

Before reading it we were looking forward to staying there. Now we are "chomping at the bit" (pardon the pun)

In case anyone missed it on the other threads we are there 9 days from 17th March.

I was only saying it was a hassle at the old la mirage for taxis as when we went out in the evenings there was no one on reception to sort out taxis so we had to walk up to the main road to find one......maybe its different at the new one......we cant say as we havent stayed there but im sure its as lovely as the old one

For us personally from the old one we where getting taxis to yumbo or taxis to the beach and then again in the evenings

Yes I know these places are all in walking distances but when you have really late nights out you really dont feel like walking everywhere

Playa and maspalomas are our regular ventures so we know it will be enjoyed whatever you decide to do

Happy holidays and keep smiling as it confuses people

Sorry just my humour

,

We always found getting a Taxi at the old one easy enough as we just cut through the waste ground at the side of La Mirage and flagged one down on the main road straight away outside Club Vista Flor and coming back we always got the Taxi to drop us there as it was easier

The La Mirage is located virtually on the same road just about 1/2 a mile further down near the storm drain so same scenario either cut through the lane to the main road or have reception phone one

If anyone wants a brief idea what the new La Mirage looks like search " Los Claveles Park " as that was the name of the complex before it was renamed La Mirage obviously some changes / renovations have taken place since but it will give you a fair idea of the layout etc or do a Google Earth street view by searching " Avenida Touroperador vingresor 25 " it shows on that still as " Los Claveles Park " and lets you see the general street area and road set up

We are back in G.C in 3 weeks and will be popping in for a day visit and a catch up with Mandy if she is back at work by then
