We were in Amsterdam last weekend and took ourselves to Sameplace. We had a good night, and because people ask about it quite frequently here on fab we thought we’d share our thoughts.
The bar is west of the city centre, about twenty minutes walk from Dam Square. It’s easy to find, being on the corner on a main road. On Sunday nights it’s open from 10 until 3, and when we got there at about 10.30 there was a small queue outside. That’s because they only let in one couple or friends’ group at a time, and the doorman in the cloakroom gives the rundown of the place for newcomers before letting you through to the bar, then allowing the next people in. Single men were not admitted.
Currently it’s €10 per couple, plus at least €20 spent at the bar, so not an outrageously expensive night. Drinks prices were reasonable I guess, €5 for a bottle of Heineken, €7.50 for a small bottle of Prosecco etc.
It’s not a huge place by means, and with a dozen or more couples there it was pretty busy. People were not shy, and the play areas on the ground floor were soon occupied. We wandered down to the basement to have a look, and shyness was not an issue there either - one couple making use of the sling, another on the gynae table, mattresses busy too. We’d say more than half the people there were in their 30s, with probably four or five couples in their 40s or 50s. On our second trip to the basement we fucked over the massage table because the sling and gynae table were still busy. Others looked to be in the same boat as us - not hardened swingers, but relaxed and started playing as the evening went on.
Sameplace is clean, nicely set-up, and well run. We’ll definitely go back next time we’re over there. |
