That question is honestly one of my biggest turn-offs. Hate when you're having a promising conversation with someone and then that pops up, especially at the start.

It is nearly always newbies that ask it. I find the art of conversation in general through PMs quite poor. One line messages, copy and pasted nonsense. Finding a decent conversationist. Is rare, and gets me worked up when it does happen

It annoys me when they ask me that rather than just let the convo flow.

I'm glad we are not the only ones who hate that question. We never know what to say because what we want changes with who we are meeting. Every one is different which is what's great about this place.
