A came across someone suggesting that virtually any dildo could be converted for us with the vac-u-lock mounting system. Their suggesting was that you just needed to drill out the base to the correct diameter. Has anyone here tried this and if so how well did it work?

Take it to your local engineering workshop and I'm sure they could help you out

Very limited experience with it, but from the looks of it, yes a hole that diameter would work. I think it may depend on the plastic of the dildo as to how well it will grip the mount though - is suspect slighly undersize with some more pliable plastics as it may just slip off.

Am very keen on fitting that mount on future things myself as it's so useful to have the interchangability

Vac-u-lock, aside from being a pain to type on my smart phone, is a Doc Johnson system to allow interchangeable dildoes to be used on a variety of mounts. I presume this was originally so you purchased one of their strap-on harnesses and then could switch to any dildo. With this system the base of the dildo incorporates a roughly finger sizes hole with a couple.of internal edges which slides over a matching mounting post made, from a rigid plastic, with a matching set of barbs creating a tight seal between to toy and mounting.

The system currently includes a number of harnesses but also has suction bases, a handle and a conversion joiner to make custom double ended dildos.

This type of mounting are also used for mounting dildos on some fucking machines. I nearly said commonly here but somehow don't thing these are common enough to claim that.
