In the past it was right ankle :- hubby knew , left ankle he didn't, worn under stockings safe sex , over stockings was bare , not heard the bi version but as others wear them as fashion accessories it defeats the object, as has been mentioned the charms are more of a give away .

I wouldn't make this assumption as a single guy. I know and have seen plenty of vanilla girls wearing them with no knowledge of this hidden indication. Unless I can spot a "HW" or a word on there. With my luck it would turn out her name was Heather Walker!

Just wear it on whatever ankle you feel comfortable. Most of the people that see it when you are out wont have a clue what it means anyway and so you probably wont be approached. Its only happened twice for me.

Didn’t realise there were so many potential hidden meanings and gaffs to be made with them!

Got a few but we use them as our own code for if we will play or not. Don’t usually start night wearing one but if get chatting to someone and want to indicate to husband that would like things to go further, will usually slip it on discreetly at some stage as a signal so we can either pull out without things being awkward if he’s not thinking same or both agree it’s game on xx

In Spain in the hotel bar last week, I spotted a lady wearing an anklet, HW with an ace of spade's, so I knew I wasn't what they were looking for, so when the hubby went to the bar, I said hello, then mentioned the anklet and that opened up lots of conversation topics, we spent an hour chatting with him and his beautiful wife, no we didn't play, but I put them on to a local club, they were amazed that they missed it, so it does work, she wore it on right ankle, my wife wears one too, but never been approached.
