Anyone else ever started to chat with someone and then find you’ve been suddenly blocked or their profile isn’t available.

Wondering what I have said as I don’t think I’m explicit like some on this site...

Yep, regularly. Usualy by girls or couples that initiated the contact in the first place. Pathetic really

Only one who can answer why is the person who blocked you. You're not going to get that answer so I'd just move on & not let it bother you.

I block guys mid convo at times, often because they come out with something crude that they think is funny & my eyes will audibly roll as I hit that block button. Do they know why? Probably not & probably won't see the problem in things they say. After all the attitude of many is "well this is a swingers site"

Yes, it happens all the time and it's often impossible to say why. I've been chatting to people where they've sent a lovely, friendly interesting message and then before I've even replied they've blocked me. You'll go mad trying to figure out the reasons for it so yes, just move on - it probably isn't anything that you did.

Not that, but I have noticed a certain swarm mentality on the forum (mostly gamers) who try to control and dominate certain sections by boycotting threads or blocking accts enmass.

There could be any number of reasons, it may not even be that they aren't interested, who knows. You could be here all day thinking of the what's & why's.

There's actually a lot of computer/console/pokemon gamers on fab and many have paired up to game together too.

Many of the most posted to threads are set up and populated by gamers and once you know who they are you'll see the way they often subtly control the flow of the forum on certain days and at certain peak times.

Yes, gamers are very adept at working and sonetimes controlling the forum. Thinning out competition from others outside of their clique. They're likeminded I guess and lots have formed chat groups outside of fab.

You'll notice the same names repeatedly posting and commenting on certain threads, whilst others threads are completely boycotted, esp at peak times/days like Thurs/Fri after 6pm...thats mostly the gamers.

There’s a possibility that you’ve been chattering to a fake account, but in all honesty it’s really not worth worrying about. People will block who and as they wish. Move on to the next convo.

Yep, had it from women and the odd couple on here on several occasions. It can be frustrating but you have to ask yourself if they were worth meeting anyway if they're shallow enough to do that and just move on to better things, as you'll often get pilloried for mentioning such things if you're a single bloke. Be classy and keep your own standards high as they're the only ones you're in control of.

I haven’t really noticed either to be honest but I have seen quite a few non gamer people have a swarm mentality on the forums lately mostly just picking on newbies and certain people. Also hating that there are people creating stereotypes on here it’s not needed really. The op is asking a question then the thread turns into someone hidden agenda. Following up from my last comment op yeah it happens quite frequently and it shouldn’t be anything you should worry about.

I'm a gamer. So DAWG, you're telling me I'm part of the problem? I'm part of the reason thay someone chooses not to respond to someone?

Or are you just jealous.

Because I'm failing to see wtf gaming and the threads on here have to do with someone deciding they dont wish to talk to someone.

And as for boycotting, you must be on something funny.

I think you've got yourself confused somewhere along the line.

I'd not worry about it and move on. Could be a multitude of reasons.

We've blocked people when they've said things that made us think "no thanks". Trouble is if you say that more often than not you either get whingy desperate responses or abuse.

Hiding from twats

I wouldn't worry about it, people block for all sorts of reasons. They might just not be feeling it and it's easier to block than to get into a discussion about why and face possible abusive messages (some men turn into complete arseholes when turned down).

If the profile isn't available, then either they've hidden it, blocked you, or been suspended for breaching site rules.

I block people for all sorts of reasons. I've had perfectly nice chats with guys and then they'll send a message that just gives me the ick, so I block rather than getting into a discussion about it. I've blocked loads of people on the forums because I've seen one iffy post, pressed the green arrow, and decided I never ever want to talk to that person privately.

If people from the forums here also chat elsewhere, surely it's not that unexpected that they'd be more likely to chat to their friends on here as well rather than randoms?

(Not a gamer, before anyone asks, I have trouble with the DVD player.)

But this swarm mentality isnt by gamers.

I see about 10 people on here all gaming up on others. I'd give you names but were not allowed to name ans shame. But there was a post yesterday where those same men decided to gang up. Can assure you, they dont comment on any of the numerous gaming threads.

You guna call them out too or just sit in your corner sulking like a child?

Yep, it's a fine line that's hard to tread. I'm never explicit in chats, nor overly flirty, unless I'm already on solid ground and already know them. Trouble is some aren't wanting ordinary conversation, but you can't tell as they give no clue as to their wants and needs, leaving you all at sea. Just have to quietly tell yourself there are better people out there for you and move forward. You'd go mad with frustration sometimes otherwise. It's also probably true to say peoe often aren't patient enough to take the trouble to find out about you sometimes, suggesting they may not have been very interested in the first place, so why waste your time too? Focus on the positives - and there can be many - and let the negatives go.

I’ve generally only been blocked mid conversation after being told they’re not interested - so a way of making sure you don’t see that profile again.

Going the other way, I rarely block anybody. Even if I met the ‘chief bitch of Manchester’ I’d probably leave it unblocked - because you ever know

I block with impunity. Women who want taller, thinner, blonder, or darker skinned are all blocked, as are those that have read and deleted my messages. It narrows the field, and allows me to concentrate on those that are at least potentially interested.

Made me chuckle and will be interesting to see who else notices the names on gamers threads filling the forum at peak times, whilst other threads are pushed off the page...youll see...funny convo.

"But this swarm mentality isnt by gamers.

"

Feisty lil tiger aren't ya...theyre all brave when I'm sitting down...chuckling.

Re bullying, I think I saw the thread you're talking about and it wasn't pleasant, but a negative comment on a thread asking for opinions isn't necessarily bullying. It's nice to be nice, but some of the sycophants on the forum can be a bit sickening.

And its obvs not just or all gamers, I'm sure there are other cliques working their magic to get seen at peak times, but I've definitely notice 'some' gamers gamifying the forum at peak times. It's pretty obvious when you make the connection.

You're making it a personal vendetta against gamers when the OP has nothing to do with gaming

You're calling out and shaming all gamers for what purpose?

And I'm not a "lil tiger" I'm the big bad fucking wolf. Buckle up kitten.

"Not that, but I have noticed a certain swarm mentality on the forum (mostly gamers) who try to control and dominate certain sections by boycotting threads or blocking accts enmass.

Gamers?

Those in the forum games section maybe? I doubt many computer gamers have time for fab lol

There's actually a lot of computer/console/pokemon gamers on fab and many have paired up to game together too.

Many of the most posted to threads are set up and populated by gamers and once you know who they are you'll see the way they often subtly control the flow of the forum on certain days and at certain peak times.

So you do actually mean people who play computer games? I thought it was some lingo I wasn't clued up on! That's interesting, it's not something I've noticed.

Ahh interesting. I can just about how to figure out how to turn my laptop on never mind play pokemon that's me out of their gang then

You and me both...

Sometimes you just realise that they are a bit of a prick by following the little green arrow along with their messages

Agreed, there are def some easily led lil pr*cks on fab...karma usually does its thing...

Yeah it does and devil pays its dues to people who hijack threads and tries controlling them to make themselves look like the good guys. When in fact they aren’t and clearly have nothing better to do in their lives.

Sorry op I think this thread has turned into not what you were asking about and more into someone’s personal vendetta. "

Blimey...vendetta is a lil extreme, esp when just responding to others comments...how dare I.

And I brain burped out one small observation, no intention to hijack anything...and I'm officially a good guy, my kids and being on Santa's pressie list tells me so...reckon you're getting coal this year, just sayin...

"Anyone else ever started to chat with someone and then find you’ve been suddenly blocked or their profile isn’t available.

Wondering what I have said as I don’t think I’m explicit like some on this site... i have it all the time. I never chat explicitly just polite but then I can only conclude that I’m boring well said

Indeed it does... this thread derailment just seems to epitomise that quite well - there hasn’t been a “who is in the Clique” thread for some time - maybe you should start one to put your Jessica Fletcher skills to use.

O o O oo

Can I remind people that anyone can have a view on the forum whether you agree with it or not, you can't dictate what they say or tell them not to post

Also if people are going to comment can you remember the rules say you can't attack people when doing that, the rules are below if anyone wants to read them

https://www.fabswingers.com/content/forum-rules
