My beard theory

Given the rise of beards in fashion over the last decade it seems that almost any half decent guy will probably have a beard of some sort. And to me they look great when done well. I do stubble more than beard unless I'm feeling lazy, but even that makes a huge difference for the better it seems.

But... Whilst I think it's fair to say they make us look better, I'm not seeing it make guys more appealing on average. The fashion trends don't seem well very well aligned to sex appeal when it comes to looking through men's profiles.

"Oh hot... But beard", when he's often appealing *because* beard..!

So potentially outside of your personal preferences, do you think this mismatch real? Are women (and couples and other men...) having to put up with all that fuzziness more than they should?

Meh! Right now, I have about 4/5mm of mess. I trim it to 1mm whenever I can be bothered.

I'm not really bothered if some woman says 'no'. Just move on love!

Interesting post......

I’ve seen quite a few profiles here which say not beards’ which, being an owner of one, is a bit disheartening and frustrating.

That said, it’s someone’s personal preference and they have a right to that just as I have a right to mine.

Not what I asked.

I also get rejected for having a beard, but that's fine, I'm not going to shave to fit someones criteria

As much as I loathe beards on a practical level, there are far worse things about *some* men and masculinity in general that women and couples have to put up with.

Each to their own, but I've never seen the need to follow fashion.

To pick up on the question more specifically, I’m not sure anyone is ‘putting up with it’ more than they should.

Surely if it’s not their preference they’ll state it and avoid men with beards? If they’re still engaging, they either don’t mind at all or not enough to prevent a meet/play.

I put up with beards/stubble but that’s because so many otherwise attractive men have them.

My preference is definitely clean shaven. It’s so much nicer kissing a smooth face and not getting stubble rash. I think if men had a smooth face and spent a while kissing a prickly face they’d soon understand how uncomfortable it gets.

As for male fashion trends.... I’ve yet to see one I like.

Had a beard since I was 20 and won’t change that I’ve had and usually do keep it neat and trimmed 1mm to 4mm usually but have also let

It grow to bushy and long depends on how I feel, as for others I don’t mind one way or the others what they think I wear it.

Some are predicting a rise in divorce rates when the hipster trend becomes unfashionable, beards are lopped off, and across the land women everywhere cry as they realise What Lay Beneath.

Well that's obviously fine, you would presumably be one of the few who had beards, had the styles not shifted over time.

I think as well so many married men drift to the beards slowly and wives happily go along with it as he's still the same person they married etc... But when it's a new face to another couple none of that history or personality can be relied on.

I’m lucky enough to be able to grow a beard fairly easily and I’ve various different styles over the years.

I mainly have a beard because so many don’t like it

It’s not for everyone but it’s no different to the bald or hairy pussy debate, is it??

I don't think it's the same as either as its not become a (almost?) default and positive, fashion choice for so many.

I keep a neat, tidy beard because I feel I look better with one than without. Plus, shaving gives me bad skin.

So... You might look better, but do more or fewer women actually want to do you?

Who knows? I assume I'm more attractive when I'm happy with my own appearance. Nobody who's ever knocked me back for my beard has gone on to say they'd do me if I got rid of it.

I grow a beard as I’m completely bald, so it’s a way of saying f,ck you to Mother Nature. Of course pubes and back hair are seemingly a no go these days, so it’s the last bastion for acceptable hair growth for me. Obviously beards are not everyone’s cup of tea, I personally have an eversion to large ears..

I'm hugely drawn to men with beards of all types. Among the men I know, those who have grown one has made them more attractive and vice versa. That's not a choice, it's a gut reaction I have no control over.

Mine is soft, and I think she likes the feel of it, sexually.

When I first joined fab 18 months ago I had a pretty full beard, and managed plenty of socials and meets seemingly because of that. The beard was absolutely a positive, indeed a must-have for several women. Then I shaved it off because my daughters didn’t like it and had bought vouchers for a Turkish barbers, and guess what? Plenty more meets and socials with women who preferred clean shaven, or didn’t express a preference. I genuinely haven’t noticed any difference whatsoever in how hard or otherwise it is to obtain a positive response. In the same way that I’m unlikely to be bothered one way or another if a woman has long or short hair or ink, piercings or any other thing which expresses her individuality.

The thing is with beards is that some people look good with them and some look shite, it's all down to the individual.

It does seem to be a trend now.

When I could first grow a beard in the early 90s, most people didn't take to it.

Let’s just say some guys with beards have definitely changed my opinion about beards

I like a well groomed beard. First preference would still be clean shaven though.
