Do people here get regular std checks?

Hitch

On our meets we always do oral without protection as mrs loves to taste cum and because of this we get tested after every meet.

Plus although we use condoms theres always a risk of something

Do people here also do the same or not bother?

What if you play with two people on the same night ? You can't get tested in between.

When I'm meeting every 3-4 months or 3 months after my last new partner I expect any new long term partners to get checked within first months as well, my last test was Oct been with the same partner since July. If we're still together next year regardless I'd still get an annual check up

Same here! Get tested when I get my pill unless I think I'm more at risk some time in between for whatever reason.

Just a heads up though OP that you have to wait a few weeks for an infection to show up in a test after exposure so don't get tested too soon after a meet.

I get tested a few weeks after a meet as it's more likely to pick anything up around the 3 month mark after a meet. I have a postal sti come though today so sending it off in the morning. Like to make sure I've not picked anything up, and it helps to show you have had one recently to show potential partners . I had one a few months ago and that came back clear

I don't get tested after every meet, but I do get tested every 2-3 months depending on how often I'm meeting.

Last test was November and I have the postal kit ready to send back. The postal kit is limited (HIV, syphilis, gonorrhoea and chlamydia), so once every six months or so I'll get to the clinic for a more thorough screen.

Yes I know that. Was just curious if it was a clinic you went to if they said anything about frequency but as you’ve said you order the kit.

Actually for those who don’t test the kits are super super easy and none of the hassle or fear of judgement as you do it yourself at home.

I wish I lived in an area covered by home testing but rural Wales is a bit behind. Its an hour round trip to my nearest clinic, but the nurses there are all amazing, friendly, they all know me and my lifestyle and we have a good laugh I actually enjoy the experience there.

It feels to me like there are many people on Fab who don't realise how long it can take an STI to show up from a test. Getting tested regularly means little, as far as proving you're clean goes, if you are having unprotected sex (including unprotected oral) regularly, too. You can pass on an infection long before it may be detected by a test.

It's very easy to educate yourself - there's lots of information from reliable sources on the internet.

"the kits are super super easy and none of the hassle or fear of judgement as you do it yourself at home."

Kits are just a urine test, though, aren't they, not blood, so limited.

I've had plenty of tests at a local GUM clinic and never even the slightest hint of judgement... it's their job, they do it every day.

I'm very aware of the tests..and get tested as often as I do due to just how active I am. I mean dec test till jan was my quietest month activity wise and I still managed triple figures for play partners...

So I'm tested every 4 to 6 weeks.. I am aware of what risks there are... but getting tested regularly is still a good thing.. and of course it doesnt mean your clear.. it just means at the time you were tested nothing showed up.

"Nice to know that there are educated and sensible individuals on this site... Also helps the NHS to be kept busy and gives the rest of us the opportunity to pay more taxes..."

The clinics will tell you to get tested as much as necessary. If you're active and with multiple partners it's only wise to do so. They recommend visiting 2 weeks after a broken condom.

Why is it important to have regular tests? Stops an epidemic catch it before it spreads. What is more costly, being tested regular or more people needing treatment because one person infects 2 then those 2 infects say 2 more each and so on and so forth but quite a lot of people have sex with more than just 2 people. It's productive and cost effective to prevent spread of infections than to treat it, that is why sexual health clinics offer free treatment unlike going to a gp because you're more likely to accept treatment because it's free.

Stoke on trent has a high rate of syphilis due to the reasons people aren't getting tested enough and it's incubation period is short but identifiably it is only 86% chance being diagnosed at 90 day mark. So regular testing is essential because you can actually be infectious 7 to 10 days after exposure. Catch it as quickly as possible and have to inform all your sexual partners. Which begs the question how many would tell someone they've had sex with they had an std so they could get tested or would they let them carry on without knowing?

You don't have to be honest about your name or address, all you need is mobile number to be contacted. Don't even have to give them gp details. This is to help people who feel they would be "outed", ashamed or embarrassed of going. You don't even have to attend your local clinic can visit any clinic.

If you're honest with why you need the tests and your sex life you get the right support. You can be completely anonymous except for mobile number for which you can use a cheap payg SIM for.

I get tested every 3 months regardless of playing or not as some infections may take longer to develop? I have a nice lady who comes to my house it can be very discreet she said when I first met her i didn't have yo give my real name as it would go to my docs I don't care I've nothing to hide and nothing to be ashamed off and she always gives me a big bag of condoms when she comes so I am well stocked lol x

People would be mugs not too. I go every 3 months, although this time I've used a kit for the test, taking blood not easy, so will probably go back to clinic visit next time.

It's easy to do, non intrusive on your life, and prevents the spread of disease.

I would also advise that you keep a list of people you have sexual contact with, so if you do get any positive results, you can inform them.

We go every 3 months to walk in clinic (although you can per-book too) Tried home kits but prefer clinic. We give our real names etc, but, opt out of gp details.

Bless them, clinic staff are brilliant and have never batted an eyelid when we tell them we’re swingers, lol.x

Even if you play safe as we do, it’s a responsible thing to do.

We made a decision to only meet couples and only those who don’t meet single men and only ever have safe penetrative sex. We do kiss a lot and do oral unprotected. We’re also aware failure rate of condoms is as high as 20%. We didn’t get tested at first , we don’t play with many couples but now have been tested and plan to every 3 months. As expected - all clear !

We are going private from now on, can’t stand all the probing questions and sat in a waiting room for ages. There’s a separate cost per test - which ones do the NHS do as standard ? Looking like about £500 per person

Bupa Global covers all our medical costs but they won’t preauthorise sti checks you have to claim back and justify each test separately

We usually pre book apt so not too much waiting although apt times are limited. As standard (we admit we swing) had syphilis gonorrhoea clymidia and hiv. We have never felt probed, lol, our clinic staff can be quite comical - maybe we’re just lucky. Ouch! Couldn’t be spending £500 every 3 months.

Hang on, you expect to be treated but you do not like being quizzed about your sex life? How do you expect to be treated or diagnosed properly if you wont answer a few questions. Not everybody does the same sex acts with the same people.

Frequency of testing depends on the level of activity. Every 3 months if active. If not - then the last test would be 3 months after the last meet and none till I meet next time.

The argument will be "it will cost more for the NHS to deal with an infection than a test".

Cost of STI test to the NHS is £120.

Should everyone zip up their pants during this pandemic, free up staff to carry out tests and reduce the out lay on tests?

You do realise that most sti's take 1-2weeks to show on a test and the nasty ones 3months+

So getting tested after every meet is a bit of a waste of time if your meets are not at least 3 weeks apart (2 weeks before test and 1 week to get the results)

because I'm tested regular due to the amount I meet. I do regular gangbangs and meet at clubs pretty much every weekend. Therefore its the period that has been suggested to me by the clinic.

"I've never been tested why x

Why should I be tested?"

The presumption of you not being a virgin. If you've ever had sex even with a condom the advice is to be tested. Since you've never been tested and the odds of being a virgin at 44 is extremely minute odds then you should be tested if monogamous between each relationship and if meeting someone for casual sex then from a minimum of 2 weeks after.

I've met someone who never been tested and this person had never used a condom before me who had bareback sex with men and women. He is in his 40s also. He said he never had any symptoms so never went for a test. Needless to say after discovering this I haven't met him since.

Condoms aren't 100% safe it's only safer sex so tests are important.

A frustratingly large number yes but I wouldn't go as far as to say a huge majority. Testing rates are pretty reasonable in under 30s and at the very least women are tested during pregnancy so that's a lot of people who have at least once.

"Every 3 months yeah

Just out of curiosity OP do the clinic say anything to you about getting tested after every meet? I mean chlamydia doesn’t show up on a test until two weeks after your exposed to it.

We dont order until few weeks after otherwise the results could be wrong. "

No they know it is safer to get checked regularly if you meet regularly as then the check catches anything that would have been incubating at the earlier test, it also means the next test picks up anything incubating at this test. It is an overlapping series that is safer than waiting.

"I've never been tested why x

I've been on the site 12 years and never had a meet.

The huge majority of adults are never ever tested."

Thus the reason why std rates are still an issue. You have the ones who don't think they need to get tested but infect others through ignorance. Even when told a person has given someone an std they swear it's not them. How could it be them if they have no symptoms...? Well matter of fact stds are for the majority asymptomatic so how do you know you don't have anything without tests.

If you've had sex regardless of where you met them it's advisable to be tested. Just because you haven't met anyone on fab but have had sex with someone doesn't mean you're excluded from catching stds.

A lot of promiscuous people I know didnt know of fab before I told them about it, do you think stds only reside in the fab community?

My first I managed to get pregnant and caught chlamydia (he told me he was a virgin! Lying bastard) I was asymptomatic and this was before tests when pregnant were done as standard. 3 months after the birth I was tested and given had scans my tubes were scarred from the chlamydia. Damage was done and I didn't have a clue and neither did sperm donor. He swears I didn't catch it from him. You don't have to have lots of sex with people to get an std it only takes 1 person. There's many people out there who think nah it won't happen to them. It's a betting game you can have a winning streak and lose one time the odds are not in your favour if you don't take responsibility by practicing safer sex and getting tested.

I've had 1 std in my life and I don't want another, people being so naive or ignorant about stds when they don't realise the damage they do its not just a simple course of antibiotics it's life long damage. Other stds are much worse the physical effect they have on the body if you don't know you have them or had them if you were lucky enough to build immunity like hepatitis A and B recovery.

Imagine living 5 years being HIV+ and you didnt know, the fact latent period of HIV can be 10 years with no symptoms. Imagine how many a sexually active person could infect in that time by not knowing their HIV status.

But it's ok it won't happen to you?.. Right?

Do you think someone infecting a person with hiv by being ignorant to testing should be given a prison sentence? Harm by ignorance doesn't mean you're not guilty.

I consider myself extremely promiscuous and slutty but rarely get the chance. The last and only time I've had sex (safe) was almost 30 years ago.

But hey, I should be getting tested hourly according to this.

Was your "sperm donor" aware of his role?

"

Haha I don't think anything suggests excessive testing in my post. You've had sex even though 30 years ago but you think you're superman and wouldn't have caught anything man of steel and super immune system.

Why would I want to get pregnant on my first time? He refused to be in the child's life due to a few reasons, he even denied the child was his! What do you call a male who has nothing to do with their child? He isn't a father thats for sure so apt and polite term is "sperm donor" I can think of many choice words to call him, his role was being a boyfriend. Who wanted his dick wet, got it wet consequences of that happened and he disappeared.

He's one of the ones who think he's got no symptoms it couldn't be him so I must have fucked someone else. Fab is full of these kind of people, "it's ok I'm clean I don't have symptoms, yeah I had bareback but they were all clean too, don't worry you're safe"

"I've never been tested why x

Why should I be tested? have you never had sex then?

I've been on the site 12 years and never had a meet.

The huge majority of adults are never ever tested.

It was the one time, we were both virgins and condom used.

So I guess I'm absolutely riddled with sti's and AIDS and must be tested immediately.

As I pointed out people can say they are a virgin and not be.

Condoms are not 100%

But to have never ever had a test you put absolute faith and trust in that person.

Lots and lots and lots of people say they do but the reality is its all talk with many and they don't get tested but say they do because that's what they think people want to here. Honesty sadly can be in short supply as it gets in the way of getting a meet.

oban

My nearest clinic is a 6 hour round trip. They offered me a test when I went for a coil but it turned out to be a self swab and I couldn't use it properly. Postal test would be the same I assume, even if they covered my area.

I'd happily get tested more often if it was possible.

Did you even know what one looked like then? , if you did your sex education was way ahead of my time and my sex ed was appallingly lacking information and I'm 8 years younger than you. For most schools sex ed is still lacking when educating young minds about sex and sexual relations.

Most girls don't have a hymen or was broken at a young age or only partial. Even adults rarely even know the differences between different hymen.

Heck some people don't even know where the clit is even women. Sex ed needs a lot of improvement
