Public information update.

Anyone caught filming "private acts" without informed consent of those being filmed could be charged with Voyeurism.

This includes "private acts" in public.

This is the result of a case at the court of appeal today.

Story reported slightly differently on different sites but all agreeing about legal situation.

Consent to sex is not consent to film.

Engaging in "private acts" in public is not consent to be filmed.

Take this as you will but be aware someone got a 18 month sentence.

So you are saying if I was caught on CCTV having sex in a public place, someone working for the council could go to prison for 18 months for recording it ?

Nah, a person acting in their duty, will be excluded, but of they are not acting as they should.. Then yes probably.

"So if I had sex on a bus none of the other passengers are allowed to film it ?"

Only if they film it for their or someone else's sexual gratification. If they film it to show the police then no.

This is more or less how I read it but be aware, if you are filming something to pass on to the police they will sometimes keep your phone as evidence...

There is 3 parts to this story but all three guys are getting a voyeurism charge.

One guy was filming prostitutes while he was employing their services without their permission. He got 18 months.

The second guy filmed a woman who was d*unk and lying in the street asleep whose clothes were a bit out of place. He never touched her or her clothes else he would be up for indecent assault too but he goes to court next month.

The 3rd part involves dogging. Basically this guy was filming doggers without permission and posting the videos to some of the big porn sites. He has been found guilty and waiting for reports before sentencing.
