I had a copper one fitted at the start of Nov_mber and had no issues at all.

I have put 6lb on but I've also been a complete hog over Christmas which I can't rein in.

Any questions ask away

It didnt hurt going in, and i didnt put weight on, however for me it made my periods super heavy and super painful for about a year then they settled a bit.

I also had great difficulty in getting it removed 5 years later as it had enbedded itself into me. Ended up needed an operation to get it removed. Id never have it again, thats for sure, although it was a very good form of contraception.

I dont imagine this happens to everyone, i was just unfortunate.

I have had the Mirena now for 8 years. I don’t believe it has made a difference to my weight. I weigh less now than what I did before my coil.

The answer to whether it hurts or not? Yes, yes it does. Similar to the pain of having it removed (if you rem_mber that). The pain doesn’t last long and it is gone in 30 seconds but it is very painful.

I would be lying if I said I didn’t lie there crying for all of a minute and needed the Dr to hold my hand.

Morena hurt a little for a few days. No issues now. Didn't stop my periods but they went from unbearable unmanageable holy hell to light to average most months. No weight gain.

Everyone is different of course.

Mirena has stopped my periods completely. Since having it in, I had about two not so heavy periods (more like spotting) in the first year and then no more since. I don’t think I’ll rem_mber what to do now if I ever had it removed

People tell me I'm unlucky that I still have periods. I'm just glad I no longer have monster horrific periods.

I didn't put weight on with it.

The actual fitting was mildly uncomfortable. Mostly strange feeling as they poke around in your womb. I wouldn't call it painful though.

With my first one I did have horrendous cramping for two days after though but the second one I didn't. I've never had kids though so the first time it could have been because my cervix had never dilated before. Apparently the fitting is easier if you've had kids.

I had my changed last year. Having it out isn’t as painful as putting it in. It’s more uncomfortable than painful

Thinking of getting one put in. Did it result in heavier periods?

It was uncomfortable whilst she fitted it, but not so painful. I chatted all the way through. After I had a mild period pain for a day. No pain killers but I was aware of it.

Since then the occasional slight twinge but nothing really.

Because it’s unusual. It’s like with a smear test (which we’re due this year don’t forget!) it’s just weird having someone poke around there

I’m wondering whether to have one fitted, but I’m worried about weight gain

My periods were heavy anyway but I don't think they've changed much. Not so it's noticeable. They maybe last a day longer. It used to just start, now I seem to have a day spotting first.

I had mine 2019 as they did my first one early because I had cervical bleeding. It was just related to my endometriosis but I'm now a year ahead on smears .

Brilliant mine are heavy and I didn't fancy them being any heavier, thank you

I’ve sent a calendar request to all my girlfriends my age to get it booked. No one gets past me

This may be a strange one, for any one who had a membrane sweep to induce labour is it a bit like that getting it out in?
