Apropos another thread - I didn't want to hijack it.

Well, a while ago, I messaged a woman from the next town - including a couple of face pictures. She replied almost immediately, saying that I was exactly what she was looking for. ....

BUT, she then went on to say that she knew me (not from here), and couldn't possibly meet me. She apologised, and wished me luck - which was fair enough.

I told her that she had me at a distinct disadvantage (not a position I'm used to being in ha ha).

Anyway, I wished her all the best, and said that I hope she realises that from now on, I'll now be looking at every woman I know on a personal and professional basis in a completely different light, and asked her if she would promise me that if / when we do meet, she'd either wink at me - or drop a hint of some kind.

She said she did realise, which made it even more fun for her; but added that she may leave it a while until she did actually wink at me.

Now I'm wracking my brain trying to think who on earth she might be - or was she just some random winding me up?

Anyway, if it was a wind up - it certainly worked, but at least I can now laugh about it, and it's a good job that I'm single - or I'd be frantic!

Has this happened to anyone else, and what do you lot think?

PS To avoid breaking Forum rules, and getting a spell on the "naughty step", our conversation is paraphrased, and NOT the verbatim exchange we had.

Maybe she wasn’t in the next town, she ay have been a little creative about where she was from and actually lives closer to you (May be very closer)!

Slightly off topic, but I went to a group meet a couple of years back and the lady that turned up was a former work colleague I worked with 12 years previously. She never acknowledged me if she recognised me but I certainly recognised her!

As per previous threads, met a work colleague whist I was fucking Mrs W in the swing at Chams. The most surreal bit was the handshake and business chat.

I wouldn't admit to recognising someone to be honest, I feel it makes the other person feel at a disadvantage. Would I admit if they said they thought I was Sarah from Tesco ? No, because men I have spoken to on here openly admit that they see someone as more 'up for it', if they are on here. There are some truly strange people in this world, and I wouldn't know if they could be a potential stalker, or indiscreet and tell a mate, who tells their mate......

Agree completely, single women are, unfortunately, vulnerable to such behaviour, in fact we have had it even as a couple, we had to get police involved on one occasion, though that was really to stop it getting violent. (Ie me decking the person)

I am not tarring all men with the same brush, but the risk is too great in my opinion.
