Do you mean in messages or on the forum? I wouldn't worry about either most people are patient and understanding and the ones who aren't aren't worth your time.

There are a couple of people on the forums who are dyslexic, anybody who comments negatively towards them is soon pulled up.

I am dyslexic too and when sending a message, of there is a word o think I've spelt wrong, I even mention in dyslexic.

If, something I've seen before , the said person says they are grammar nazis and hate misspelt words. I don't even bother replying

It's not just dyslexics who might have trouble typing. I have a spine condition that affects my limbs and their extremities, often don't press keys hard enough and so stuff is missed out of texts. I used to love chatting online, not so much these days.

I have mild dyslexia, but most of my errors are either typos or predictive text!

I do feel sorry for people who have a much greater degree of dyslexia which can be a major problem, but then they tend to compensate in other ways, often having excellent memories. Many years ago the actress (as they were called then!) Susan Hampshire "came out" about having severe dyslexia and how she memorised all her lines in advance as it was impossible for her to sight read at a rehearsal.

Nope... Just nope.

Dyslexia is a difference in nurological processing, it's not something that can be "cured" by having bad energy pathways blocked.

It's the trying to figure out other words that means the same or having to write more words to describe what you want to say. I mean I wanted to say (another word) but I couldn't spell another so I ended up writing (more words)

Then I go to write something else and bloody spell check spells out (another)

And I end up rewriting the post.

But as I wanted to explain I didn't rewrite I just left it how it was .

I hope this makes sense?

I've got dyslexia and it can be a nightmare at times. I wasn't diagnosed until late 2018 during my first year at university.

When I'm stressed or tired it can really kick in and I can't spell for toffee, it's really annoying.

We are both dyslexic and use Grammarly and other apps to try to help. If people feel the need to highlight bad spelling and grammar then good on them. It shows us what is important to them and we will avoid them like the proverbial plague. We understand how hard it can be communicating in written form for some of us and never pull anyone up for errors.

In the forums i tend to make most mistakes, but no one ever mentions it. Although i submitted a buisness plan before xmas and refered to my packaging as Muslim bags all the way thro. Whoops...

My number dyslexia is much worse, but passed my maths and english GCSE's last year at 38. Something i never thought i would attept yet alone do.

I have ‘daily sex’, too. It affects my spelling, word blindness, grammar and sentence construction, including vocal processing; my handwriting is atrocious, too. What I tend to do is google words that I can’t spell and I’m always proofreading, but I can still miss words, etc. I have used programmes such as Read and Write, Sonocent audio notetaker and inspiration mind mapping, given to me for my uni studies.

Unfortunately, some people equate the aforementioned affects being unintelligent. What some people don’t understand is that some/most people with dyslexia are very intelligent - they just learn differently and need support. I have a photographic memory and have a very good long term memory and recall - I can read or hear something, totally forget about it and then a week or several weeks or years later, something will trigger that memory. I wished I recognised this much earlier, as I was virtually given up upon in school; I’m now doing my second Masters.

OP: there’s no need to rush to write a reply the instant it comes it. Take your time, write it in another programme first, such as Word, Notes, etc. so that you can see it much better, than the tiny screen on the site. Then copy and paste it into the reply window.

All the best J

What a shame when people try to make jokes about dyslexia. You would not take the piss out of someone with an additional need.

I too am dyslexic, not diagnosed until three years ago...

I find I am ok with typing words, always get my I's and E's mixed up though. I find colour filters help, and always take my time in typing.

Terrible at writing, make far more mistakes when I write.

Quite paranoid about it tbh, and I will read and re read what I have written.

I hate when going for job interviews and saying that I have problems spelling.

I went years ago to Tesco and the person interviewing took me out to the store and asked me to read stuff.

I said do you not understand that my problem is spelling not reading.

He never give me a job

Or my ex ex boss demoted me because she said it's wasn't other people's job to help me fill in my paperwork.

I did do the job 9years. So I must have been doing something right.

I have a wee book with the main words I can't spell.

And you point out that every phone PC or tablet has spell check.

I still get turned down or overlooked in jobs

I think that quite a few posts above have proved that manners and modesty are far more important than spelling and grammar - especially in this game x

That comment about daily sex made me laugh out loud - good on you!

When we meet people at clubs or whatever, we recoil instantly from loudmouths, smart arses and twats.

it's the quiet ones...those people happy enough in their own skin that are the most attractive and sexy, and we are far more likely to have a chat and more with those people than the ones (like above) who think because they've got a big mouth or a big cock (and likewise for ladies) they have an instant invite.

Having to work much harder at something, and actually doing it is very honourable and without wanting to appear the slightest bit patronising, we salute you - genuinely x

G & P xx

I've had plenty of managers who have never heard of the fact that dyslexia and discalculia are two sides of the same coin.

To use the Countdown analogy, I can sit in Dictionary Corner: no problem. But stand me next to the numbers board: forget it.

The sooner more people understand this, the better, for all of us.

How does this affect me in real life, well basic mental arithmetic is tricky; but instantaneous wordplay is really no effort at all.

...and yes, I do double check my spelling: gotta keep my skills in shape.

I am a bit like this - I have dispraxia where there is a connection with dyslexia. I have good it, and maths skills but with words I have to print out letters and check on paper.

Tbh it is not as bad as it can be and gets worse if I am trying to type something with an emotional meaning.

I had no idea either that its heredity. Or so they told me. Unfortunately it took time for my folkes to even realise its a real problem not just a lazy one. Luckily the school i went to had a dyslexic unit which i went to for 1 1/2 hrs twice a week. Unfortunately i had to change schools for my GCSE's ( i went to a small private convert with 12 puplils in the whole of my year...they said i out grew the school lmao ) the new school didnt tale it into account at all and although not stupid i was placed in the bottom set for everything.

My boy struggles but mostly he is the slowest processor ever..tell him a new bit of information in a million different ways till he understands to a point. Then it looks like he isnt listening but his brain is just working overtime. He dsont have a stutter but listening to him trying to expain something or tell a story of what happend at school can be the most painful experience. Having said that his tech skills baffle me lol

a quandary, could you change my mind?

I get pulled up about my spelling regularly, even by people who know my situation. Some believe that it's to help you, but they don't understand that we can spell the word correctly in one sentence and not in the next.

Some people understand others don't want too.

Just because of dyslexia doesn't mean we are daft.

Do the best you can with any reply or message and see how you go.

Dyslexic is linked to autism, in an intelligent way.

"HI all just seeing if their are any others like me who has dyslexia? I find it hard to either send or reply quickly as it takes time to type due to dyslexia, i wonder do others have this. If meet people face to face it is not a issue, it only when trying type. How many more people might has this?

"

I'm very glad to have the gift of dyslexia

It did make school in the 70s and 80s a little testing though

My dyslexia helps me understand how things work so although I cant spell for toffee I can work out how Google spell check corrects me and use it to my advantage x

OP: As long as you're trying your best that's all you can do. I'm glad that dictation software exists nowadays and that there are things like Siri etc etc

Many of my colleagues, friends and loved ones have it.

I used to be very pedantic about grammar and spelling but now I just laugh along with any howlers if and when they make them. It's amusing when - for example - someone is trying to say "hologram" and they come out with "holocaust".

I only realised a couple of years ago that if people say e.g. "pacific" instead of "specific" then that's a very common dyslexic thing. It DOES NOT -contrary to some people's beliefs - make them thick.

Some of the ones I know can write essays and understand wanky academic talk, while others definitely can't. It's interesting how much of a spectrum there is to it, much like with autism (which someone earlier mentioned).

Autism and dyslexia are in the same family AFAIK and they are common comorbidities but not all dyslexics are autistic and not all autistic are dyslexic.

Trying to figure out if some dyslexics use text speak to cover up and whether I need to be less impatient about that.

It shouldn't matter about dyslexia. As long as you don't put your cock in the wrong hole is all the matters lol

I'm also an engineer

I spell abysmally

I now dont write other than my signature

Took a few years to confidently declare "sorry I cannot write if you want to read (forms etc) or me complete it today then you will need to write it"

I struggle to draw(not technically)which does frustrate me although I do know I can improve with meticulous dedication

That said I can sculpt and I have no problem with 3d art

I used to make clock animatronics which conceptually are 4 d (place in space at a time)

Having to deal with a judgemental hand written world was a baptism of fire for a shy 7 year old however my gift bestowed me with lateral thinking permitting me to circumnavigate problems and see them from a number of perspectives

That and enough conviction and understanding to know those calling me stupid were just wrong

"I’m dyslexic, it really kicks in if I’m tired or had a beer."

Same here, i daren't type on the forums at night, make no sense

Just take your time OP, and read back what you wrote, often a eye opener. there is no rush to reply so take that pressure away for a start.
