A handsome chap has been in touch.

The main image is a close-up of the OK sign - the thumb and adjoining finger cupped into a circle.

I believe this has become a symbol of white supremacists in recent years.

I'd love to say Yes, but the idea of getting up close and personal with a white supremacist is a complete turn-off.

It seems to be quite popular in Hungary and Poland, too. I just wondered if it might be spreading here.

I may be mistaken, but the ok sign with thumb & fingers pointing up does just mean ok, or you’re trying to do a rabbit shadow puppet.

It’s when people do it surreptitiously holding it downwards, maybe against their leg, that it’s some kind of weird ‘hey check me out I’m a white supremacist’ salute.
