A couple of times lately I have been asked to meet up with people, and when I have said I would prefer an initial meet in a public place I have in a way been called a time waster :S

I dont like to have to justify myself - But as a single woman - I am not wanting to put myself in a potentially dangerous situation...

You're not wrong,you do what you want as long as it makes you feel comfortable,anyone that does'nt understand or agree with that is'nt worth meeting up with

Lots of people ask for a social meet first so you're not alone

Anyone refusing to meet a single fem in a public place should not be part of this community.. and as for making you feel like the guilty party?? thats just crazy.

Don't put yourself at risk with these chancers... any real people would love to meet you in a bar or coffee-shop xxxx

Plenty of other to choose from no doubt - and never forget the ladies are the boss!

They are your rules not every persons.

Whatever suits you is what you should go with, but there isn't a right or wrong way.

Surely anyone that's genuine would consider the needs of safety and security for a single woman and would be happy to satisfy that need any way she felt safe and secure?!?

Strikes me that if these people you are referring to can't see that then maybe they are the ones that arn't being completely genuine and therefore wasting time...

And a +3 here! When I was single, and even now as a couple I always meet for a drink first.

Infact if the guy was giving me a hard time about that , I would be seriously suspicious of his motives.

My experience has shown the guys who are worth meeting are totally ok with the meet In a pub first thing.

Ruggers is right, if its ur rule then its right for u!!!

OP,.. I got an email from a bi guy looking for a "discrete meet". I told him I was not interested in meeting men and perhaps he could refine his search for what suited him.

He proceeded to call me a time-waster (so I blocked him). For some people, the simple point they don't get to meet you, in their eyes, makes you a time-waster.

The question is: does that then bother you?
