I don’t state i do photography on my profile as keep it seperate from this lifestyle.

I have a strong interest in taking photos of others. But it’s not something to approach casually. You need a strong portfolio to begin with, because people need to love your pictures for a conversation to begin.

Taking a photograph of someone naked or having sex requires enormous trust and respect. Not just because in the moment the model(s) are vulnerable, but because afterwards you have a record of them in that vulnerable moment. Your models must believe that you will treat their image with absolute respect. That kind of trust takes time to build, and you need to conduct yourself with considerable integrity.

Even if you don’t have an actual contract, agree before hand, in writing, exactly how the photographs will be used, what the boundaries and restrictions are, and what permissions are being given. This protects the photographer as well as the models, so it’s in everyone’s interest to do this

It's weird because none of these people can send us anything from their portfolio.

If you're a perv with a good camera then just say you'll be happy to hold the camera.

As an amateur photographer myself (with zero interest in offering to take pictures for free) I would expect your profile might be more credible and you might get a better response if you mention the equipment you are using, the software for post processing and provide some sample artistic, well shot portrait shots of yourself (using a tripod and remote) or preferably a willing model on your profile.

Wouldn't you agree?

Yoi can hardly expect people to be interested in your work if you don't show it.

Not quite - the person who triggers the shutter owns the copyright to the image irrespective of who owns the equipment used, which is completely different to image rights usage.

I’ve had a lot of photographers contact me but after several chats, found its an easy way for guys to get into my knickers. Pays to do your homework.

However I did choose an amateur photographer and we’ve had three shoots so far which has been great. Two in the studio and one on location with my horses, it was rather sexy knowing i was teasing for the shots but nothing could happen in the studio although soft play was great

My partner is also a amateur photographer. He has taken photos of women he has met, but only have they have built up a lot of trust. These shoots have never ended in fun as he has his photographer head on those days. His own profile is full of arty photos of him, which demonstrates his skills.

I am sure someone eventually will take up your kind offer. Just keep practicing.

We've had messages from "photographers" offering shoots and say to check their public pics to see their work.. and the photos are just standard looking fab photos.

I (Beast) studied photography so people trying their luck with some poorly took photos doesn't really work.

You can tell actual photographers from chancers.

trust no one is my motto ... we had a friend who showed us how these clever ill take your photo guys can get around keeping your pics with out you even knowing all they need to do is makesure the camera in connected to the smart phone that has a certain program on that automatically put the pics on a cloud type app as soon as pic taken ...the guys then take the memory card out and act as if they are giving you the pics knowing when they get home there copies will be on this cloud app waiting for them as wank fodder or worse bl**kmail ...its true not all will but how will you know 100% ... not named the program needed for good reason ..... not everyone is honest

My camera does that. Transfers photos by Bluetooth to my phone.

Most phones have private galleries on their phones which are heavy encrypted and keep all you photos safe. I wouldn't trust any so called "safe place" in the cloud because they are not that safe its all marketing and a false sense of security.

That's true. 95 percent of the photo it the composition and the subject. Best camera is the one that's with you. I've taken lots of pictures that I'm happy with using a simple smartphone. I don't carry my main camera bag everywhere. Too heavy.

And whilst it's true that you can set up a dslr to fling photos to a computer or ipad - lots of people do this to allow them to examine the photo they just took on a big screen - I would tend to agree that no professional or indeed ethical amateur would keep duplicates without consent.

An amateur on a site like this might do though.

Get asked a lot at shows and exhibitions which camera to use, which is best. He will always say "the best camera is the one you have with you" spooky

I'm a model and would not consider working for you.

You need to have images of your style of work.

Also models unless new will only work for free or tfp if the images they will receive have something for them.

Failing that your only option to learn is to pay models.

Expect to pay 25 an hour for art nude. Also any sort of sleaze or inappropriate behaviour and they will report you to the police. It's a job not a chance to meet people for sex.

Probably the same ones you see at photography shows wandering around with their 400m L lenses attached to their camera!

Most of my fab pics are taken with my old Olympus OMD - too much of a faff getting the Nikons and big heavy glass out just to take some selfies

It's like offering a building service but just tell the customer you are still learning bit you will be good.

I've worked with over 100 photographers so just offering genuine advise.

I would not look for someone on here to do my pics

I've had it before offering to do me free pics. Like I should be grateful someone with a cheap camera from Argos or a camera phone is going to do me free pics I can actually use.

You need to look on modelling sites and het your wallet out I'm affraid

As far as cheap camera goes etc I can assure you that’s not what I am about.

I am just looking to get better at my hobbie I am

Interested. Even if I took the pics then in sat there with said persons and deleted them in front of them.

Practice makes perfect etc.

Maybe you could give me some more advice if possible please.

If you're looking to become a better portrait photographer than take some pictures of clothed people. Get some books and go to classes on composition.

Suggesting that you learn photography with nude people (and maybe some fun thrown in) makes it seen like photography is not your main interest, nudity is. I don't mean to sound unkind but that's just how it looks to me.

Get on Purpleport, Madcow or any of the other modelling sites - Some studios even advertise organised group days on there, these can be a good intro into shooting a model (or 2) with studio lights and fellow enthusiasts.

And having a model who knows how to pose and is comfortable in front of the camera is a massive help when your starting out (some models are also very good photographers themselves so may even help with the tech aspects) otherwise it can be a case of the blind leading the blind.

I use decent photography equipment for my work and have recently started concentrating on landscape work, and have sold a few images and won a couple of comps. I use a Nikon D800 with 20 and 50mm primes and a selection of teles. I also have softbox lighting.

I'd love to have a go at photographing people in erotic or implied erotic situations, and I might as well be completely honest, if it evolved into something more, I'd be more than happy!

I've not got nearly so much

I use canon gear. I use Eos 5d mk iv (full frame) and eos 7d (aps-c) with a selection of 'L' lenses although my favourite tends to be trusty 24-70 f2.8 L.

This will turn off all the other non photographers now. As I said, best camera is one that's in your hand when it happens.

Guys go down to PC World buy one of their camera kits, and a few cheap lights off of Amazon or eBay and come on these sites wanting to take dirty wank pics claiming to be a photographer. They forget there are real world Photographers, models etc on these sites.

Anyone genuinely interested in photography would at least know the basics about, lighting, composition, perspective and would start with the very basic, still life etc etc.

Get dozens of guys claiming the same thing you are going to get hit hard. I have said this before on other threads if you are genuinely serious, then you'll do the basics.

OH runs training days and field trips, for photography.

Its not about the photography police its because soo many come on her saying the same thing, its like saying your are music producer or film director on these sites you are going to attract all the wrong attention. Most people have heard all the same line before

Or join a local camera club, most areas have one, and have models come in, talks off other photographers etc, great starting point for a hobby.

Lots of great info/advice in this thread!

I used to do quite a bit of photography (amateur) and have done about half a dozen weddings (very stressful). Only do family gatherings/events now as I’ve lost my mojo.

Portraiture has never been my thing, but, I do sometimes daydream about giving it a go. I’d never offer to shoot just anyone (too much responsibility), but, I’d do it for a friend.

I've done a few shoots with various ladies, some with me in them while shooting/filming, some with someone else behind the camera

If you're involved in the shoot as well as trying to direct it can be very difficult.

Staying behind the camera is best if you're actually interested in the photography side of it, forget the sex part and concentrate on building a good reputation, you will get no where on here by just saying you're a photographer. Just my 2 cents

Currently shooting stills with a Nikon Z7 full frame mirrorless and a bunch of S series lenses. For motion I’m still using my trusty RED Dragon and Cineo Maverick LED’s (when not working with a dedicated lighting crew). Stills processing is mostly Capture One. Motion post and grading in DaVinci Resolve with Eizo and FSi panels

I keep thinking I need a Z series (yes need not want, yeah right...) If for no other reason than having a smaller FF camera would be great, but most of my 'paid' work is product photography so it wouldn't make a massive difference to that, I did have a 'blad H3D a few years back, lovely thing but it ended up becoming used less and less so I sold it.

We have been using a product photographer for several years - every time we go there he asks Niki to model for him. It started out him doing her a 'favour' - after about three years he finally made her an offer she couldn't refuse and she did model for him. They did about a 6 hour photo session and were both absolutely knackered at the end of it - so the moral of the story OP is be professional, respect your model and be prepared to work hard and pay well.

I’m not allowed to get into Nikon chat, my hubby said it would give us away too much

Lol staying out of it all I know is he "oh" main cameras are Nikon but he uses others depending on what effect he is after including film lol. In studio has lots of different lights and wireless TTL remote not sure what that means, starting to sound technical now.

I’d definitely recommend a Z series. It’s so much smaller and lighter then the 800 and the image quality is terrific. The range of S lenses is slowly growing and the adapter for the standard mount works a treat.

Heh, I’m used to the eye-rolls when I get my geek on about cameras

@OP you don't need to learn by shooting nude models. You habe to build your eye and your style. I'm sorry but to me that just sounds like a cheap way to try and get into someone's pants and it smells of creepy from a mile off.

I shoot professionally and from my profile veris you'll see I've shot at clubs. It's because I know the liabilities. Yes I may own the copyright. I don't own the use without a model release form and thus can get sued.

I don't have issues to get models but that's because I'm published in magazines - and I only call in free shoot favours when I've got a moodboard and shot in mind.

Otherwise I learnt all about lighting from shoiting inanimate objects such as milk cartons and footballs in my house to learn and understand lighting.

Certainly didn't need a sec site to find someone.

As someone else suggested use purpleport if you want to start shooting nude/erotic photos. Otherwise if you truly have a passion for it do various disciplinrs because you need to learn about light and composition.

E done a nude shoot as a birthday present for me. We tried to find someone on here to take the pics but realised very quickly that wasn’t going to happen. I searched for a local studio that offered boudoir shots went to meet the guy to check it out and then broached the subject of more risqué shots. Photographer was cool with it and stated he’s done It many times previously. He also agreed to use my memory card so we had all the images immediately after the shoot.

Much better way to do it and we were comfortable that our pics were in our control.

Only advise I can give is don't bother looking on here

Hire a proper model who can pose and understands modelling.

Most importantly do not even bring sex into conversation and what ever you do, don't ever touch a model. They will report you and you will find yourself in a whole world of shit.

Be 100 percent professional, it's their job. You wouldn't do anything inappropriate to a woman at work.

Nude art modelling has nothing to do with sex.

All this will have been discussed up front with the client. Workflows, any legal stuff, release forms, licensing, security and GDPR etc.

FAB should take these posts and threads and put in the FAQs etc. With a big arrow saying "Don't post read the FAQ". or "If you're in it for .... the door is that way" lol.

But I'm sure you'll always get them. Many of the comments may be useful to those seeking but also those in it for their own indulgence (may save them quite a lot of embarrassment).

On a positive, there are genuine good amateur and pro photographers on these sites. Word of mouth is always a good starting point, generally don't advertise lol, moreover talk to them you'll know soon enough if they are genuine and not looking for cheap thrills, door openers or wank pics.

There is always a risk, pro or amateur. Not all pro/amateur photographers are above reproach same as any other industries. Best advice is find them, get to know them, then make any informed decision.

Seeing their work is not always the right question, because they may covered by NDAs, License agreements, but simply peoples privacy, ethically and morally wrong to do so.

Cameras have two card slots. Or can shoot tethered both wired (hard drive) or wirelessly (wifi connection) and so images can be saved.

Besides as a professional - like you said - I'm not handing over raw files unless you pay my full pro rate. So that means you get JPG at medium resolution. Beats an iPhone but isn't anywhere near maximum quality.

People don't understand it's a shame, there is a whole raft of stuff which takes place even before the actual photo shoot and after.

This is where they all make the same mistake assuming it is just a case of coming along with their digital camera, taking a few pics and leaving.

A photographer will want to present the subject in the best possible way, it's not just about fees its about the whole ethos, art and ethics of a true photographer, would never give anyone a half baked photo either paid or for free.

As I said previously anyone can take a picture these days but but they are not all photographers.

Cameras these days are sophisticated and smart, packed full of electronics - but they are still machines

There is an old expression "CICO" Crap In Crap Out.
