Have any of you got any kind of contingency plan if something went really wrong, like for example if you had a nasty accident.

(I know it's not nice to think about but still I feel needs addressing).

I have lots of toys and clothes and all kind of stuff that I wouldn't want certain family members to find including my children if one day they were having to clear out my belongings if I died.

I've decided to to put everything in two different places so that two of my friends at the right time could be let into my home and remove all the stuff that I wouldn't feel is appropriate for other family members to see. ( I am going to show the friends where the stuff is and let someone know to let them in to remove stuff)

I wonder what would what happens to emails and photos on my phone that are password protected, I guess they would just go with me in time.

What about letting people know who are not in your family's address book?

I know it's a difficult subject to broach but I'm interested if people have got something worked out as I I would like to get myself into a position where I wouldn't be adding extra upset to a bad situation if one day something went wrong.

I've thought of this before !!!

Never came to any solution other than a locked box / chest for nominated person to remove.

Glad to see I'm not the only one have this morbid "what if" thinking.

I literally think about this all the time!!

Think I might put everything in a bin liner and label it ‘rubbish’ and store it somewhere (maybe loft?). If the worst happens to me then hopefully it will get binned without anyone looking inside.

Clearly there is a risk of the bag being found and being thrown out, but rather that happening than someone finding it all.

Or am I being too dramatic!!

A few sex toys and accounts on swinger's sites wouldn't shock my family. Maybe surprise mildly, but not shock. With my husband we know all each other's logins and passwords so hopefully one of us would get things sorted unless we both went at the same time.

I've been thinking along these lines for a couple of years.

I have already instructed my adult children where the login details and passwords to all my online stuff can be found. Along with security codes for access to a lock up I rent etc.

However I would be mortified if they found the photos and emails that are on my phone and laptop.

I don't have any other family, or friends local to dispose of it all quickly enough.

It properly stresses me thinking about it sometimes.

My biggest concern would be about making sure that all the people who care about me are properly and sensitively notified.

As for all the online stuff I'd leave behind, actually, I'm rather amused by the idea that we've invented a digital afterlife. The physical stuff is less of an issue - someone will clear up after me, and if my family think less of me when I'm gone because of my sexual proclivities, then they'll be less kind than I hoped they'd be, and in turn I'll give less of a shit than I otherwise would about their opinions.

So what? I'm dead, they're not and they'll be terribly upset, I expect (and not at what they might find).

Some completely opposite opinions to this.

A close family member has recently died and her daughter is now starting the process of cleaning out the house.

I just think if she found a big bag of strap-ons, sounds and lots more it would add an extra bit of upset to an already very emotional situation.

I literally have quite a diverse selection ranging from full leather gimp style hoods, to a set of anal ring toss, where you inset an anal device into somebody and then throw rings at it to see if you can get them all on.

Not your standard fairground hook a duck.

It definitely would get a lot of upsetting reactions from my family. There is a comedy aspect to the situation too, but I still feel I wouldn't like to add extra emotion to an already upsetting situation.

Physical stuff like toys- depends on how shocking it would be to whoever clears up. If it's an issue, store it in a bag and put a label 'Stuff from Naomi' or whatever. Sounds weird but at least they can then choose to believe it's not actually yours.

Digital stuff- potentially more damaging. Even if your phone/computer is password protected someone nosy will figure out how to open your files. Instead, keep anything embarrassing in the cloud in an account nobody else knows about.

At the end of the day, friends and family will be more upset by your absence than your actions when alive. Nevertheless, it's a good idea not to upset them further especially as you won't be around to explain.

I have been thinking about this too but haven't fully implemented my plan. With my toys I have no idea what the solution is. However with digital things there is a solution. I have not completed my investigations yet but Google lets you customize two things.

a) You can set a custom timer for it to delete your account after a period of time.

b) You can create specific folders on google docs and set a custom time period for sharing its contents by sending a link to it via email.

However if one is ever in a comma for a few months and one recovers.......hmmm?

I have been told about a website called if I die, and it has way of setting up a plan to send notes to family and friends via email after making sure you have passed on. Whether it's what you want doing with your stuff or how to look after your cat or just words you couldn't tell him when you are alive.

Very interesting and completely free to use. That doesn't really help with cleaning out my toys but I just thought it was relevant.

I've got my best friend named in my will to take charge and possession of certain things. It would be traumatic losing me and I realise it won't be fun but at least it prevents others from getting in deep.

Things can happen when you don't die, and my family and friends are fine and know roughly what to expect.
