Feature request regarding age

I would like to request a change, so when joining, age ranges were automatically set to appropriate ages. For example.

18-30, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 etc

If a couple crosses or is in 2 different age ranges then both would be selected.

If you are happy or have a preference outside of this then you would have to select this rather than no selection giving a default of 18-99. I think this is misleading both from those searching and for those whose 'real' acceptable age range is closer to their own.

This seems it would make the site less frustrating to use. I always tick the option for only those that want to meet someone my age but this seems a useless feature as nobody sets this correctly.

What do you all think?

My range is set at 35 - 50.

Your proposal would de me ticking 3 age range boxes,

I'd be open to messages from people 30-35 which locally, is a definite no no.

Then on the older side upto 60.. Which is a absolute no.

Choosing individual years makes much more sense

That is what I mean people should purposely select age range so those outside do not have to wonder if 18-99 is real, in many cases it is not.

It would be simple to add an all ages to select 18-99 if that is your preference.

If someone is too lazy to set the current age range, they’ll probably just tick the all ages option anyway. Or they could be into the whole age range. I wouldn’t want to choose age ranges that include those too young and those too old.

Perhaps fab could have a default. If you don’t specify you’re automatically classed as looking for people within 5 years of your age?

If people are too lazy to set an age range and leave it at 18-99 then we assume they're too lazy to be fun to meet up with it.

Not sure it is laziness it is more likely there is no appreciation for how it affects others.

It seems everyone has to do the work of finding out something so basic and waste time making a considered judgement of laziness or genuine interest. Never mind taking the time and effort to send a message that would have never been sent if you are out of the age range.

It does however seems the site has no interest in making improvements.

I have never seen any suggestions being noted for comment to the site developers, and for a pay site that is not really how their fee paying customers should be treated.
