No it doesn’t hurt if you choose the right apparatus which suits you (you’ll know if it isn’t right but it is a bit of trial and error).

The most comfortable I’ve found is the Holy Trainer.

Actually I’ve tried quite a few and, whilst I’ve found that the HT is a lot easier to get in and off than many. The standard 50mm ring is tight, I find, but the HT has a different shape.

Mind you, you will know this of course if you have tried it. Or maybe not.

The ones I've seen look too small. According to their advertised spec. That's all I meant.

This can be an issue. I have got over it with a little baby oil gel around the A rinh and wearing thermals during the day. Keep moving if outside and a few hot drinks also help.
