Just wondering how people met before the internet

I remember there was the old contact magazines on the top shelf, but my usual way was the back pages of Loot

used to read all the ads with anticipation of a meet, then phone the box number and leave a recorded message hoping for a reply

had some great meets off there, especially a newsagent and his wife from Warrington in the flat above his shop

So easy to make contact with the internet these days - just realised im turning into my dad!

Ha ha loot...don't think I ever had a meet off there generally it was full of tranny hookers or hairy arse blokes in knickers... So glad Fab arrived..so much better ..photos ..verifications...

Contact mags were the only place. We had a photo of us in there, which was paid for. Then to reply we sent off Polaroids to a box number, I always suspected many ads were false. We got one good reply and that led to meeting others by word of mouth.

I was introduced to it by the couple I lodged with after my first marriage broke down.

They were older, wiser and wilder, and through them I met others.

They would lend me contact mags where you corresponded with people via P/O Boxes, basically wrote them a letter.

Sometimes there/was a small pic of the individuals or couples who wanted to meet others.

I remember my landlady and her husband billing themselves as 'loving couple seeking to spice up their lovelife'

Bless 'em they'll be in their 70's / '80's now.

Forum gave me an affair with a couple. Rendezvous and loot provided two couples. The toucan club adverts another couple.

Dating via the lonely hearts led to a few affairs. Divorced, separated and single clubs were a goodly source.

But there was a lot less paranoia. We gave out our landline numbers and rarely had issues. The odd silent call or an unhappy hubby alone at home as wifey was out.

There was a sort of relationship, until it ran it's course.

Most arrangements went ahead, and folk advised asap if they had to cancel.

One lady met three of us,total strangers in her own home for a gang bang. I met a woman at hers, with no pre meet and we fucked.

I expect that still occurs. But in general there's so much more overhead to include.

Me too! Late-night chats led to a number of early-hours trips anywhere from 5 to 250+ miles for a few hours of fun...

....mainly with 'lonely' ladies - a few single mums, a couple of divorcees, and at least one widow...

....but also with a married woman whose husband was on a night shift - and not least my first experience with a couple, where the husband sat and watched...

I had my first experience of swinging in the 1970s.My (ex) wife and I became friendly with an older couple and swapped wives.They introduced us to another couple and we swapped with them too.My wife would regularly fuck other guys on her own and then come home to me.All this was done without the internet or contact magazines.

In the 1990s I met a couple through Forum magazine and played with the wife for about 15 years!

I started meeting people online about 10 years ago.I actually met my partner on Fab so the internet ain't all bad!

Ex and I placed ads in there around the same time she was 19 I was 25, a few good meets in people's homes and some nice hotels, less time wasters then in my opinion

My first with a couple was up in Leeds, 25 or so years ago - one of the best, and also opened the door to lots of fun!

Some of my other jaunts were highly-memorable

...

....but a few were less than successful!

Us older ones who indulged then are definitely more wiser and have seen it all really.

Swinging is becoming more socially acceptable now it's probably changed for the better in fairness.

It's definitely lost its edge though and that's to do with the internet and greater technology.

When mobiles had WAP and you could view different pages. Met a few that way. We would then exchange numbers and the odd very bad phone camera pic. Grainy as fook.

Shame I lost touch with those women. Fun times

It was hard work, I rememeber my first meet with a couple that took weeks to arrange. An A5 contact magazine where you had to write a proper letter and enclosed a photo to send to a P.O. box number then wait for replies. A simple conversationa and asking questions took return of post times.

You are probably right in that assessment. I was excited by getting my wife involved through contact mags and the delay probably helped her feel more comfortable and less pressure initially.

I used bargain pages. Met a couple from Leamington, and a single lady from Birmingham. Then I think the personals went all PC and Bargain Pages, not long afterwards, went to the wall I think.

Was reading an article in my paper about it one day and mentioned it to the fella I was working with. We spent most of the day discussing what would go on etc etc...unknown to me, him and his Mrs were swingers.

He mentioned it a week or so later and asked me round to there place one night.

I was shown pics of them both in the clubs they went to. Saw pics of her getting fucked by different guys and him with other women and even another man.

They invited me to go to the next night at a club in Newcastle. Got totally ignored but it was interesting and at the end of the night the woman who seemed to be the owner asked if I would like to return.

Obviously I went back and it was different. I helped out in the bar and did a bit tidying up and then a lady grabbed my hand and took me into a room.

I got a meet with two couples from escort magazine, you had to post a letter inside a letter with a ref number on it

Contact mags which could take weeks to get an interest going but once you were on the party mailing list then you got going and there was more parity then. Also fetish clubs were great for meeting new people.
