Any ideas on best areas to stay

Trying to book 2 or 3 nights in sept . For his birthday we both have never been so should be a good break away.

Do we stay central or just outside

Any recommendations and any ideas of things to do there lol besides the obvious

Alkmaar and Lelystad are both beautiful! About 40 mins away from Amsterdam so still relatively close!

We always stay in the city Centre, trying different hotels each time. This allows you to walk out your door and to most local attractions and excursions and of course the Redlight area.

Think trams ran till 1 when i went

Then an hourly bus after that

I'd say best to stay abit further out and travel in

Cheaper hotels and the commute isn't too bad at all

Tram service is brilliant!

Definitely do the canal trip and Amsterdam and Rotterdam squares and markets. The daffodil greenhouses are spectacular but better in the spring.

Theres the windmill countryside boat tour.

Try and get a hotel or bnb are good in centre of city.

air bnb have some good choices.

Have fun x

The Leidseplein is nice, Stay away from Central station. There are cool places in the city, Over the other side of the Amstel is good too & close enough.

I'll be there on weekend of 19th and 20th October. Good advice above on hotels. Much needed - thanks all. Looking at a club or meet if anyone can recommend. Be good to hear from anyone going that weekend too.
