Conversation died after that.

Why start mailing if you have nothing to say?

You've got to see it from a male point of view and it's difficult to think what to say while you're in deep shock from actually receiving a reply

I think most just don’t expect a reply so get a bit tongue tied. They’d probably message you a half decent message in a day or two, now the ice has been broken.

Maybe he was genuinely stumped at getting a reply! They always say it takes two to hold a conversation so you can't blame it all on him.

I think we've probably all had similar messages. The second one is usually, "what are you into" or "what are you looking for"? When you tell them to read your profile you rarely hear anything back.

Maybe they just gave a short attention span

More than likely a 'shotgun' approach.

Fire off a load of messages, get a few quick replies, and the rest who reply later, are either put on a 'back burner', or, forgotten about.
