Ignoring after face pic request

Jump to newest

By (user no longer on site) OP

I messaged a couple and they subsequently asked, albeit with just three words, for a face pic.

As always I obliged, despite the fact they had clearly not read my profile, “if you ask for a face pic, please send one of yourself with the request”

They viewed the pic, then go silent.

Now I know I’m no Brad Pitt, but surely a simple, ‘sorry, you’re not our type’ isn’t too much to expect?

It’s certainly what I would do.

your imagination

No reply = no interest. It's stated in the site rules/faqs. Once you accept that, you'll find your Fab experience becomes far less stressful

And I get that.

But since they HAVE initially replied then a simple ‘no thanks’ is simply courteous?

It’s no stress, I’ll simply move on.

Realistically we think the person who messages first should send the first face pic, and not expect anything in return. It’s not a rule.... just the way the world often works.

Some people just find it hard to say no thanks after seeing a pic in fear of hurting your feelings. I know I find it particularly hard to say something. It’s why I prefer to see a face on profile or in first message. That way no awkwardness happens.

I agree it’s a little rude not to reply with a “no thanks”, if they had asked for a face picture. However, they may not have wanted to hurt your feelings and felt that a no reply was better than a no.

And as it’s said so many times on Fab “no one owes you a reply.” But after some dialogue has occurred I feel it’s common curtesy to at least say no thanks in a polite way.

Just my 2 cents anyway. Others may well think differently.

It does come across as impolite to not get a reply.

However, we never worry if we get no reply.

Sometimes, as per site rules, and as we state, no reply = no interest.

We used to reply to messages, but, received the torrents of abuse and pleading. Probably why very few people respond to messages, not about ‘hurting feelings’.

Nope I’m with you. A polite thanks for the pic but you’re not for us doesn’t harm anyone. Rather than wondering if they’re just gonna message later etc.

If they had ignored our profile and requested a face picture with three words we wouldn't have been replying to them let alone sending a face picture.

It's the nature of the beast I'm afraid.

Put on your profile “ DO NOT SEND A FACEPIC REQUEST WITHOUT SENDING ONE YOURSELF IN SAID REQUEST”

I think you might need to read your profile again. Unless you've changed it since you posted this.

Congratulations you've been a victim of big Barrie.

You failed your own rules.

They didn't send a face pic when asking for yours so why did you expect a no thanks response?

Whoever initiates the conversation should send a photo first. Not whoever asks for it first.

This kinda made me laugh

I've had that a few times as well! Usually the male half of a couple. Good times.

Without any shadow of a doubt the most awesome meets are with people who make things easy. When people act like dicks, rude or ignorant they will invariably be disappointing meets.

Not really because you get the "but why not" followed by more begging messages as you are the only one to reply in their inbox.

Yes it's rude of them not to reply. Lucky escape, they would be a nightmare meet. Entitled and rude.
