Why do women start their profile by saying things like no face no chat and have a profile photo of boobs? Not that boobs are off putting but it would be nice to see more people’s faces here

Because you get creepy guys saying "I saw you in Waitrose in town yesterday, you looked hot"...

Pics can be shared when a degree of interest and trust is established...

That's an easy position to take, when you are inundated with messages, as I am sure you are.

I trifle more difficult if, like me, you get one a month!

If that’s the case then I wouldn’t interact with any ladies as none within 50 miles of where I live show faces in their profiles.

I think it is the double standard which is being questioned rather than the right of individuals not to show their face.

The answer is always the same - women do these things because they can

It isn’t a case of public pics but more of a point I have to send mine for the woman to block me maybe if they showed a face I wouldn’t message in the first place.

Anyone can ask for anything. If you only want to meet someone who has themselves up for all to see (and be pestered in public), then have at it.

You may not find it, but you can ask for anything.

Someone's got to send them first. Unfortunately for others, women are in a position where they can make demands. (I don't do it myself)

Totally agree. I sent our face pics to accounts that turned to be fake in our early days.... We've both learnt now and not repeating that stupid mistake.

But honestly, we would never send face pics now until we are A. certain that its a real person - with plenty of social veris and B.Also getting a face pic back.

Quite happy to be cruel to be kind and say not for us, but will never message people that say they want a face pic on first message.

Each to their own though...

x Niki

Lots of people don't prefer a level playing field per se and have terms favoured in their direction. I think we'd all love to see face pics of others without the risk of surrendering our face. Men are as much entitaled to request the same. You don't need message someone playing to those terms if you don't like it. However due to dynamic on FAB women are in a far stronger position to set terms in their favour without it being too detrimental to getting offers. That is just how things are and most people if they could would set such terms. Just some are in a far better position to do it than others.

OP I don't read that as them saying they expect them on profiles, they're asking for them in messages - which is fair if they're doing the same - which you'll only know if they initiate contact!

Here's a typical situation. Input a new public face pic on the other day, wasn't long before the creepy "I saw you..." messages started. Put it to private, no more creepy messages. Does that answer your question OP? I'm happy to send one if the chats going well and it's leading to a social meet. I wouldn't expect men or couples to have face pics visible either. You can do lots of nice pics without showing you face, so no excuse for a blank avatar ever.

Yes, but in general terms where women are often weighed up like this (men less so outside contexts like this), it's problematic. I'm not offended given the nature of the conversation, just observing that it's gross.

Lots of bad grammar here “lol”

If you’re going to rip into people, don’t leave your statement open to criticism.

Or even better, don’t belittle people. It makes you look like a twat.

or simply talking down your nose at somebody at something petty like grammar makes you look a bully.as long as others understand what is being written then what does it matter?its not an exam piece that is going to be marked.next time you go too insult somebody because of their grammar then just stop and have a think as they could be dyslexic, not had the best of educations, not been encouraged with their education by parents or simply might just find things a little more difficult to do then others.

So much you could insult about the statement and sentiment rather than the grammar. Poor show guys and girls... Poor show"

im just sticking up for those that often get spoken down at for petty reasons like grammer.why should i give my opinion on the statement made?all because you say so?if you go back over the posts then you will see that im not the one that first mentioned grammar.poor show

"I think it is the double standard which is being questioned rather than the right of individuals not to show their face.

The answer is always the same - women do these things because they can "

Not double standard. If I message somebody first I send my face pic and I'd expect when others contact me to do the same.

The repetition and insisting point abput no face no chat is because we get inundated by messages from faceless and cock-full profiles which give us no idea who we care dealing with.

I see no double standard . . .

"Most women are punching above there wait ,and im sorry but wouldnt get looked at twice in the real world , harsh but true ,say what you like im not wrong

Who are you to judge and if they are they should be congratulated for doing so, why settle for a bit of Brisket if you're offered Fillet!

Because all you can afford is brisket. I remember asking my friend why he cheats on his girlfriend who is beautiful with not so beautiful women. I used the saying why have hamburgers when you have steak at home? He answered because hamburgers are cheap and easy.....

Women are not pieces of meat. Your friend sounds like a top class bell end.

Technically we're all pieces of meat. And he's actually a really nice guy... Just has commitment issues after a few beers

Yes, but talking about us in those kinds of terms is pretty offensive. We're people the same as you.

Don't worry I'm a piece of meat too! Plus it was a reply to a comment made about women being like meat, made by a woman. No need to get offended, it's an analogy

Yes, but in general terms where women are often weighed up like this (men less so outside contexts like this), it's problematic. I'm not offended given the nature of the conversation, just observing that it's gross. "

But if it's in a different context then your point has no relevance to this conversation. If you are going to go back to how men refer to women as meat in other contexts historically, then that is a different conversation entirely. No one is literally referring to women as meat. We refer to each other as things like this on a daily basis. Rise like a salmon, fast like a wippet, ass like a peach etc.... Humour is a beautiful thing that can always be viewed as gross if you get offended. Be objective

Ahh man you're not doing yourself any favours on the intelligence front here man! If you read back what I said I was saying poor show to all those who have attacked his grammar rather than targeting the horrible things he is saying. They go for grammar because it's an easier way to try and belittle him and make him look stupid

No, but woman as hamburger implies she's worth less than other women, in an historical context used to devalue women. And even here in a context which implies or outright states that women here are wrong for their standards.

If we strip all context then conversation becomes meaningless.

Exactly so put it into context. A women uses an analogy about meat so I reply with another analogy about meat. She probably has a sense of humour more in tune with mine where we can joke about things without having to think about whether women have been oppressed and devalued by men. I know nothing of these women that he was cheating with... They might be the steak. So in your eyes I am putting value on the other woman by calling her steak right?

No one has said to take away context, more that you are using it as a means to make me sound like a misogynist

Why not?

Because they can, because they won't, because it's their profile etc...

"Why do women start their profile by saying things like no face no chat and have a profile photo of boobs? Not that boobs are off putting but it would be nice to see more people’s faces here "

So they can see if they fancy who is messaging... If you message women when you can only see their boobs then that is your decision... Only talking to someone they are attracted to is theirs.

Op, understand where you're coming from, it can seem unfair sometimes, but you must remember that the first rule of Fab forums is never, ever, criticise women. When you do, some women will gang up on you and try to take you down (eg, question your intelligence because the grammar's not up to their standards), and some men will come in to defend the women's honour (aka, attempting to look like a nice guy in order to get a meet).

If you want a really successful thread, start one about men who don't read profiles

I seen a woman yesterday from this site. I wouldn'd go up to her and say (hey how you doing) with a wink and a cheesy grin on my face.

Animinity is really important, i messaged this woman, about a week ago, and had no reply. I'm still not going to be rude. I have a face pic in my friends only, and have sent a face pic, to a couple of people on here, because I've liked there profile, and thought why not...

"Also I don't think those profiles mean you have to have public face pics. Just ones you can send in a message.

It isn’t a case of public pics but more of a point I have to send mine for the woman to block me maybe if they showed a face I wouldn’t message in the first place. "

Don't send yours then. They aren't saying you have to message them, you're choosing to do it.

And for the record, there are loads of men who do this too.

If I cared about my spelling and grammar I would have joined Mensa instead of FAB. I have thick skin and take criticism well. The question was answered as far as I am concerned in the first few messages. I can honestly say I haven’t read the middle part.

Men who don't read profiles are the worst though.

Closely followed by men who message us assuming it's the female who is online and not the couple.

It's so frustrating saying over and over and over again that both are online not just the female.
