After losing another person in my life to cancer at aged only 48 i am now seriously considering cashing in one of my work pensions when i turn 55. I will lose out finacially but really what is the point of waiting until i am 67 when i may not even be alive to enjoy the money.

Between Scylla and Charybdis

Enjoy it now if you can. To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people exist, that is all.

Carpe diem.

There is so much i want to do over the next few years but without money its not an option. This death has really made me look differently at life in general. Life is precious but so is our time here.

I cancelled my pension ages ago.. rather have the £150 a month now then save till i'm 70. I might not even get to that age plus if I do i'll only spend it on horse racing bets

You don't need to cash it in, you could draw the pension at 55 (as I understand it but take advice) get a part time job and do the stuff you want to do.

I was offered voluntary redundancy at 57, which meant I had to take my private pension. I have worked part time on and off ever since and we sold our house to downsize. We have never been happier or more content although we live on a tiny income. Life only happens to you once

I work full time and still pay towards a pension. The pension i was referring to cashing in was from a job i had 20yrs ago which altough is not huge would still be a great financial help to me now.

And in 20 years time you’ll realise that’s the best advice you’ve ever had !!

Live now. My mum died last month from a sudden and unexpected heart attack. She was 64. The government had already moved her pension age twice. She paid in all her life and then got nothing. Do not put off the things you want to do because you dont know how many more tomorrows you have. ...

and please please dont hoard clutter and keep shit you never use. Its a blooming nightmare for us to sort out when we are already mentally in pieces! X

So sorry to hear about your mum. It certainly takes times like these to think of our own futures.x
