Ok, so having been to several clubs, some that were excellent and some that I really didn't like, I was wondering how many people actually leave honest reviews on the club sections of swinging sites?

I know if I like a club, it's facilities etc. I will leave an honest review about it but if I didn't like a club, after seeing some of the abuse posters get I don't tend to bother.

Sort of applying the old 'if you've nothing nice to say don't say anything'

This to me though just seems like the review system is pretty much a waste time.

would love to hear what others think

near the sounds of the wimborne quarter jack!

An awfull lot of the so-called reviews on here are a total waste of time - "Another great night at xxxxxxx" Yes, a great night for who?

I want to know what the facilities are as some clubs really need to review their websites, if there`s facilities unservicable, new stuff planned, future events what the general ambience is etc. etc.

We have been to one club, and we left a very honest review. We did not like it so said so!

No point mis-directing others, we are all here for the same thing mostly.

I agree that there is little value posting everytime you visit, but on the flip side its regulars who will notice if a club is slipping, or getting better. I've posted a few reviews on the same club but only when either something has changed - ie refurb, or we've used different facilities.

I don't doubt even the best clubs won't please all the people all the time, and I think it's fair that people be able to voice this. I don't think there is any need for personal comments. This however does mean that regulars are more likely to post "another great night" messages. Which isn't the end of the world because at least people considering tge club can see that on balance people seem to rave about it.

If I were to leave a review, it would be an honest one based on my own experience.

If peeps do not like it, it is their problem, not mine.

As for peeps being unkind or abusive, there is always the delete, block and report buttons.

I am of the opinion that I wouldn't put anything in a review that I wouldn't say to an owner... So there is a difference between constructive and being vindictive in criticism

The way I look at it is that clubs should be places you feel good to be in, be clean and have nice staff to boot. Everyone is entitled to say to club they didn't have a good experience it's all about customer service. Maybe a complaint made will improve service of facilities.

Btw hubby and I went to a club yesterday and had a great time x

Mods can only take reviews off if they are not actually reviews or abusive ( you will find odd comments from time to time asking people to jack it in ) Report the profile if you see any and they get taken off.

Good and bad reviews are always welcome.

I am sure when we first posted a review of a club the review did not appear straight away as it was vetted by a mod to make sure it was ok ? has that never been the case ?

That has never been the case (at least not since we've been running the site, 2008-ish). All reviews are published straight away.

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

There was a spate of negative reviews from a member over Christmas of several clubs, which became a bit odd as many regulars said they'd never seen the people in question, or the club hadn't been open the date they'd reviewed it for. And sometimes you get people leaving negative reviews but admitting they haven't been for several years.

I believe that some people are just vindictive and can't just put 'we didn't enjoy it, and here's why...', and there's definitely some interclub rivalry, but I like to read the review punch-ups. I know, little things etc.

We tend to ignore reviews from users that have posted multiple reviews for the same club as experience has proven that usually these people are involved with or have interests in the club, so are biased.

Its a shame that people who leave a negative review are than subjected to personal attacks. We suffered it recently and you can see it going on at the moment with another club.

If we see a club respond fairly to negative reviews, I think thats a good sign. If a club responds aggressively, or the "regulars" do, that to me is a good enough reason to not go.

I think a problem at the moment is clubs who have gone the "pre-approved singles only" route getting a negative review - the singles are then so scared of losing their pre-approved status that they post ridiculously farcical and overly positive reviews in the clubs defence to ensure they can keep attending!

thanks - been interesting to read everyone's views.

I think the current system is defiantly flawed but then most 'review' sites are - the ones that have the option to leave marks out of 5 for different aspects and then calculate an overall average as well as a written review though seem to offer a more balanced system as you can often get a truer picture on things like cleanness etc.

I'd love to have the clubs included in the hygiene ratings like restaurants and food outlets - would be so much easier to avoid the places that score 3 or below!

We have left multiple reviews for our regular club, althought tend to try and only review when it's been something we have not done before, or maybe a special event. Just because regulars leave reviews don't mean they are payed todo this or are somehow in with the owners, we do because we like to let ppl know how different events are. Maybe in the past I myself have been slightly aggressive over a negative review, but that's because the review has been a blatant lie as maybe we have attended on the same night.

People should take reviews lightly because what one person likes another may not, can't beat trying something for yourself, also need to look at the good reviews vers the bad and take it from there.

After lots of careful consideration I posted a review, I've actually left much of what I could have said out of the review but tried to keep it as fair as possible.

I've had an email from someone associated with the club asking me to remove it because they don't think I should use the avoid option.

Makes me wonder how many others posted similar reviews and then were asked to remove them.

I think this just proves what I've suspected about club reviews on swinging sites.

We've been posting reviews since 2004 on clubs, on both here and other sites.

The first time we visit, we will make the review pretty detailed and cover as much as possible including who was there on the night and how the hosts ran the club, in addition to things such as facilities and so on.

Obviously not everyone wants the same thing from the club, so its always important to remember that ones persons golden fruit is anothers poisoned bowl of cherrys as it were.

That aside there are obvious things that any club should always be critised for such as poor hygiene and not enforcing their own rules, to mention but a couple.

If we do a follow up review, its bascially to comment on the consistency and any changes that have occured since the previous change, that can include changes in facilities as well as management which can make a big difference to a venue.

If you read through all the reviews of a venue, you can normally tell ones that are written from a fairly neutral and helpful point of view. So its really a case of using your own judgement to decide if you to visit it. If someone really hated a place that your thinking of visiting, then you can always drop them a message yourself and ask them why they disliked it so much or the opposite of course.

You do have to take any review with caution (Including ours) and make up your mind yourself.
